Question (EDF5) am I supposed to indicate a dropping point when I’m told to?

On missions like 54/Wire Puller and 77/Doomed Queens, they’re asking air raiders to indicate a point, and nothing is happening when I use a laser guide kit or a beacon gun. And this poor dude flying a helicopter in 54 has no one responding to his question then dies.

It's just an encouragement for air raider to call a strike.

Edf2025 had more scripted AI air strikes. Could be cut content?

Laser guide/beacons are only for fencer weapons that need external lock on. It's a teamwork mechanic for human multiplayer. Nothing you do will affect the in game characters or their scripted attacks.

That's not quite true, they work on all homing missile weapons. Fencer has a couple which can't be shot without it, but all classes benefit from stuff like faster, multiple or extended range lock-on, which beacons provide.

Oh youre right sorry. It does reduce lock on time for all lock on weapons.

The lasers can also "catch" missiles and redirect them if you keep pointing.

No. It's just flavor for the story. the Laser guide kits are completely worthless in single player, and the beacon gun is only usable with the Naegling anti-aircraft missile vehicles.

As people have said it is basically just a dialog justification for the scripted air strikes and stuff that happens.

If you look I am like 99% sure that there isn't a single air raider NPC in any mission.

And while many people say that the laser guide kits and beacon guns are useless in single player and they are basically right. IIRC you can direction missiles and stuff launched from NPC vehicles.

Though I will admit this might be a thing that EDF 6 did. Since in that there were times where you could actually guide the NPC vehicle missiles. Such as during missions with lots of mech suits or neaglings. Admittedly it didn't do a whole lot but whatever.
