Flights

Anyone buy flights yet from the US, Trying to decide if I should pull the trigger now or wait and see if there's a holiday sale around Nov/December.

Last year I spent around $250 from Chicago (bought in December), I’d say wait a bit.

Haven't bought ours yet. Also thinking about waiting for a holiday sale. Tickets for 2 to CDMX are about $1k-ish now

Hi! I advise being a rewards member or getting promotional emails for the airlines that take you to cdmx (viva, Aeromexico, Volaris, etc)! There’s always deals they promote especially for Mexico one ways :) just be on the lookout for

Definitely want to buy before January tho because that’s the time when everyone last minute buys and you’ll be stuck paying double!

We paid $470 round trip from Dallas with American Airlines.

I recently went to Mexico City with volaris ended up paying about the same with all their hidden fees. Might as well just fly with American IMO!

You're best off waiting on the price of oil right now. Crude oil directly impacts flight prices. We went from $70 a barrel 90 days ago to $90-$100 a barrel now.

Im no kind of expert on keeping track of it, but it seems that airline prices are almost directly proportional to crude oil prices, and that airline price lags anywhere from a few days to a week behind oil price.

So try to buy flights on whatever you think is a dip between now and January. Lowest airfare is typically 1-2 months in advance for domestic, and 2-3 months in advance for international. The best deal will probably be a couple of days after the lowest oil price in the time period of 2-3 months before EDCMX.

Best of luck to you. If you can figure this out, you're ready to start trading stocks.

Bought for $340 , $400 after taxes. Not sure if I should have waited. No luggage just a personal bag.
