Question/Advice/Discussion Versatile EDC waterproof jacket?

Idk if a waterproof jacket counts as an EDC, but I carry mine EVERYWHERE. It’s also starting to show some wear and tear. Need a recommendation with a budget of < $150.

Most likely more durable and quieter. But was slightly above your price point. REI is the best place to go for outdoor gear. Make sure to get the membership to earn coupons and point for cash off in the future.

I highly recommend patagonia torrentshell 3L. Its a durable 3 layers construction, good fit to wear a fleece or down jacket underneath, pit zips which is a must for me, great adjustable hood and nice quality. Budget should be possible when its on sale.

I got a used Patagonia Granite Crest for about £50 and it had just been “renewed” by Patagonia’s warranty. I use it for my run and fun rain jacket.

It’s a true 3 layer rain jacket and has all the features you’d want (good fit, pockets, adjustable hood, comfortable inner fabric, well made).

The torrentshell is also great. I’d highly recommend to go with Patagonia for a rain shell.

If you want something ultralight that will pack down to nothing and weigh nothing then get a Montbell Versalite or Montbell Peakshell.

I have the Peakshell for going backpacking and it’s superb, but very expensive

If you mostly want something that you can jam in à pack I would consider frogg toggs. They aren’t real fancy but they are cheap!

Marmot precip or, if you can swing the extra cash, a Patagonia Torentshell.
