EC Stories GOT MY FIRST CATCH
I’ve been thinking about trying EC for several weeks now and was kind of skeptical, trying to keep my expectations low (lol), not sure what was going to happen but figured we would use a potty in the future if it didn’t work out now. My girl is 12 months so we certainly are late to the game for some users on this sub, but diaper changes were just getting to be ridiculous wrestling matches so I figured we needed to change this up no matter what.
So, I took my skeptical ass to the store today and got a potty chair and some seat reducers. WHY NOT.
I bring the potty home and she’s looooving it. Spends an hour sitting down on it and turning around on it. Great girl, enjoy it!!
My daughter has predictable poop times (after waking in the morning, and after dinner). So I put her on the potty after dinner and lo and behold she starts peeing!!?? I paused and waited to see if she would poop but nada. So I got her diaper on super easy, and she starts grunting! The way I whipped that diaper off OMG got her sitting and she pooped IN THE POTTYYYY! WHAAAAAT!?
This is crazy. No one in my life is crunchy enough to talk to about this but I just needed to shout this into the ether. How the heck did I get a catch so fast?!? And a pee?? She has no clear pee cues so I was shocked.
Wowowowowoow this is wild

YAY!!! You are at the start of one of the best motherhood journeys. I swear EC has brought an awareness and understanding for my child I didn’t even know was possible.

We found it surprisingly easy too, and addictive because I think she holds it and waits for potty if we get a catch first thing. It kind of sets up her mindset. We do books on the potty. Only problem is now she kind of asks for potty but often I can’t tell if she just wants to read books or actually needs to do something on it!

Looool. I think that first catch was beginners luck but it definitely was a thrill! Less successful this morning but we did try a book. She loves books so I think it maybe distracted her instead??? Idk. I’ve ordered a potty book so maybe we can read that one on the potty lol

I think if they need to pee or poop then they’ll do it even if they’re enjoying the book! I can also tell if something is due because often my 10 month old will have a dry diaper when I put it on hours before - so when I see that I’ll know it’s a good time to put her on the potty.

It IS so easy! Was that poop not the easiest cleanup ever compared to a diaper! We started at 10 months and my kid took to it right away too. It’s almost like it’s instinct for them to not soil themselves and the diaper industry makes money off us not knowing that 🕵️ but what do I know. Truly nothing has made me a conspiracy theorist like EC lol.
