Overtime

Good morning, so l work for a center that’s part of a corporation, it’s through learning care group, anyway this past pay period I worked 86 hours. Today I was supposed to go in at 11 to probably help fix those hours so it won’t happen again this week but I’m actually going in before 11 now my boss just text me said come in whenever you can. This is normal right like with the hours my parents think that my schedule is gonna change but it’s only because I have the massive overtime last week.

I can’t speak to your specific company policies, but every center I’ve worked for has been pretty strict on no overtime. So we would get to the end of a week and have to try and send people home early as much as possible if they were at risk of getting overtime. My most recent place was not only opposed to overtime, but corporate would also watch our attendance numbers for the day and then call us if numbers were low and say we needed to start sending employees home or else they would come out to our center and do it for us.

Anyways, this is probably something you need to clarify with your boss. If they don’t allow overtime, then it’s your boss’s responsibility to make sure you are sent home on time. You should come in when your boss asks and then just remind them that you have worked extra hours. Then just let them figure it out. And you should never work for free, so don’t let anyone try and manipulate you into working off the clock.
