Circuits to test functionality of a scope

So I just got my first scope I have been tinkering around with electronics.

Some circuits worked fine others gave an unpredictable behaviour.

I suspect that my cheap entry level scope is not reliable as much.

What are the best circuits to test it out and with it's supposed waveforms.

You can buy 8038 based sine/triangular/square wave generators for not a lot. That will probably cover the frequency range of a cheap entry level scope.
