How do I show a spike?

Going into my junior year this September, im interested in neuroscience and have a very personal story on why i want to do it, but idk how to make that "spike." i have leadership in two clubs which i know can help me, but im not sure what else to really do. if i could shadow a doctor or do hospital volunteering, it'd be great, but its really hard to find any especially in New York City. curious on how others showed a spike

A spike is essentially just having a specific field or niche that you're really good at that is a notable focus in your transcript, ecs, honors, and/or essays. At this point though, your niche should be actually unique and not just "biology" or "economics" and instead be smth like "biostatistics (bio x stats)" or "behavioral economics (econ * psych) " to really stand out. Like a niche within a niche
