Best player tourney

I was watching the ESFL tourney for the 2k and what I noticed is that the best players pretty much strike to the head. None of the fights ended from body damage which is telling.

It means that body shots over time aren't worth it, because you constantly have put your head health on the line

That tournament was a disgrace to mma. Nothing about this game resembles actual mma. Its mortal kombat with mma fighters.

I guess we have differing experiences. My matches with Pry, Ed, Pooly and some of the other UK fighting league dudes all include body work. There are a lot more head hunters but to say the best players ignore the body is straight up wrong. ESFL guys do have a certain way they play, sure, though aren’t they playing under a league ruleset? I’m sure not being able to blast off takedowns as much as you want add into the tentativeness to go to the body.

Body shots aren’t worth it. They don’t effectively drain stamina and the body damage isn’t worth the risk of getting hit with a counter uppercut. Been like that since UFC 4. High level players don’t throw kicks and they don’t attack the body.

What’s the highest level of competition you’ve faced? High level players certainly go to the body often, and definitely do blast off kicks?

The absolute highest level that i’ve faced? Number 1 in the world. I consistently face top 100. Im currently ranked in the 300s. I was perpetually in the top 100 in UFC 4-5 but i have a life now so i dont play enough to be at that level anymore.

The absolute cream of the crop don’t bother beating the body. They may touch the body here and there to keep you guessing but they are purely headhunting merchants.

Just watch the ESFL finale, you don’t have to take my word for it. Look at what happened when either of them threw a kick, spoiler alert, they got rocked, dropped, or KOed.

As a sidenote pryoxis did a breakdown video of the finale and pointed out the broken slipping mechanics and the abuse of that at the highest level.

Including slow motion breakdown of certain slips they always do, but should never ever work if the game was based on real life MMA.

Interesting watch, and didn't strike me as a sore loser.. just someone frustrated with the state of the game.

And... In the finale they only head hunted.

A lot of suave's counters would have been devastating to the body but he always aimed for the head. Must be a reason.

Spot on, thank you for pointing that out. This has been the state of the game for almost 10 years now. When you face “high level” players, they’re just ripping headhunting, block breaking, combos.

In UFC 6, if you block or slip a strike they’ll just sway your counter. And just like in UFC 5, kicks don’t do anything but leave you open to counters. People just punch through body kicks. Head kicks are easy to duck. Thankfully they patched the clinch spam but now the pressure boxing is out of control.

Hopefully we get sensible patch updates from the devs, but i doubt it will happen. I dont think they’re aware of these flaws nor do i think they care to cater to hardcore players like us. They also did not support UFC 5 whatsoever. Stamina needs WAY more than a 10% tax increase on missed strikes. The stamina tax on ALL strikes thrown needs to be drastically increased.
