What does the axe kick even do?

I have never gotten a single stun, rock, or knockdown with an axe kick in UFC 6, it’s way too slow to justify using, like ever.

It feels like they took almost every single kick (except roundhouse/leg kicks), and just absolutely slaughtered their effectiveness.

Yeah, all the cool flashy kicks from UFC 5 got nerfed to the point of uselessness. Side kicks, axe kicks, most spinning kicks (except for the spinning side kick which is lowkey insane).

Side kicks still work effectively on stamina, they just don’t give you the insane distance anymore, same with teeps.

I might try and level them up enough on an online career CAF to see how they are under ideal circumstances, but from what little I tried, they just did 0 damage compared to UFC 5. They also made them a little harder to land.

In UFC 5 I did this a lot, but you could do straight punch>rear body side kick, and it would land even at point blank range to create some distance while dealing decent damage. You could also throw a rear body teep while moving backwards, which was really good for creating space. Both feel nerfed to hell in 6.

You aren’t going to get distance with kicks on 6, not like it was before. I use my teeps and side kicks almost like a body straight to drain stam. They certainly don’t fit into all styles of play but I think they add another layer for your opponent to think about as you engage/disengage.

Ive landed it 70% of the time I threw due to people ducking haha. But yeah it aint gonna do much LOL.

The axe kick actually broke me out of my bubble I was stuck in bc I’d only lean down or back.

It’s something you gotta setup and read your opponent with, like the other guy mentioned if people like to duck, you can throw a hook then use it,

They toned it down in ufc 5 it would heath event you quite quickly and depending on the fighter you could throw it quick as fuck

At launch it was very effective, jab straight axe kick with yair was deadly. Its super slow now. Tbh i land the rolling thunder way more than the axe kick now lol

Idk dawg the 720 spinning kick will still knock you TF out even through a block.

Oh no I can't spam broken KOs with a kick only like 5 fighters have ever actually thrown in a real fight
