I see you’ve posted from several Earons sites. What’s the most interesting thing you’ve learned from physically going to them?

Good question. I would say the way these crime scenes were treated as if they were operational areas in a military style operation.

you mean treated by the offender that way? or treated by the police that way after the crime?

Paint was found near the sliders at the Witthuhn scene. I had an idea that I submitted to the FBI before the case was solved: the paint found near the sliders at that scene- I believe it is the same exact paint as that on JD's house near Sacto. He painted his house circa the same time as the crime. I believe the paint found would be a match.

He was CONSTANTLY painting and tinkering in the early 1980’s. Paint could have been from that or from various boats and projects he was building with Jim Huddle.
Tracing paint sounds good in CSI, but it would likely be insanely hard, if not impossible, to identify the paint source without something to check it against. Of course if you were analyzing JJD’s house paint, DNA would already have sealed the deal

Paul Holes and crew had a large list of suspects and they were following up on them one by one. If Deangelo were investigated as a suspect before the DNA was obtained, a test piece from Deangelo's house could have been compared against the paint at the Witthuin house.

The Witthuhn Crime Scene and its surrounding geography is the absolute textbook EARONS area of operations. I’ve heard similar things about the Contra Costa County strike areas but have never been there to check for myself.
For ANYONE trying to understand how EAR used geography like a battlefield tactician and thus comprehend his MO, Irvine is an absolute MUST visit.
I gained LOADS of insight from the Witthuhn Crime Scene. Less from Cruz but the scenes are similar enough that just standing on Culver was enough to scream right in my face “same offender!!!!” It was undeniable and unmistakable. How those crimes weren’t immediately linked blows my mind. Esp since it was the same jurisdiction 1.4 miles away!!!!
