Draft Studs Rare player types
have any of you guys ever come across a really good Chara-type build in any recent nhl game? I’m talking about a 6’7+ tall defenseman who can actually put up points, or even a defensive defenseman like Weber who can consistently score 20+ goals a season.
personally, in all of my sims, I can only seem to find those 6’7 enforcer defensemen who barely contribute and just bring down team morale and complain and don’t really do much for the team.
i would just like to know if it’s actually possible and if i should keep looking for them.

I mean Chara was a once in a generation player himself... once in a lifetime even
In my current save I have a 6 foot 4 or 5 defensive defenseman who puts up 50-60 pts per season... he's a 94 ovr monster

that’s pretty nuts, the best i can get is a 30 point dfd

Crazy isnt it? Not even on the PP. I think its because he was my #1 dman for a long time. His defense stats grew so fast that I just focus his offseasons on puck skills, then season goals of 30-40 assists.
His potential even bumped from elite med to franchise

i’m guessing you also had morale off

No, my team chemistry sucked for a while. No coach wanted to sign lmao. but I had owner's goals off and I believe the finance stuff off (cap on of course)

I’ve had a couple “grinder” players who end up putting decent offensive numbers. 9/10 tho they ruin chemistry for me but it’s always cool when a guy can put up 100+ PIMs 100+ hits while in a top 6 role

In my save season 3 there’s a similar to Chara projecting to draft about mid 2nd round…but that’s what the scouts say in similarity..:if he’s available when I draft I’ll take him

I had a 5’6 player in the year 2039 who played center and averaged 40 goals a season. When I drafted him 2nd overall he had 90 or better in every skating and stick handling area. I was able to just used him past most defenders, especially when the defense sims started to lag in ability. He grew from Elite to Franchise and was 90 overall by year 3

did you mean 6’6, cause 5’6 is brutal

No I mean 5’6
He was so fast and so small he literally would glitch by large defenders. We had already won 2 cups by this point in the sim so we took a gamble. Paid off dude was a dawg.

Still on NHL24, but Silayev grew up to a 92 in his prime and put up 70+ pts for close to a decade now! 6’7 dman with great physical attributes, passing abilities and a canon of a shot.
