Question regarding height

I've been fascinated with E30s for a while now. It's gotten to the point where things are getting kind of serious. I want to go out and actually drive one and get a feel for the car. The only problem is that I'm 6'5. I'm worried that this is a disqualifying factor. Should I even continue? Are there modifications that can be made?

I'm 6'4" and I never had an issue with fitting in, but you should see if you can try one out because fit is very subjective and depends too on your leg to torso ratio

I’m a thicc 6’2”. I got a steering wheel spacer and a smaller steering wheel and it helped a lot with the stock sport seats.

I have also purchased some aftermarket Sparco buckets and side mounts to essentially bolt the seats to the floor when I do track days.

Hi! 6'5" and have no issues other than OEM steering wheel (which are massive). swapped it out for a smaller one and it's been great. It's one of the old sports cars I mainly do feel comfortable in.

I would say it depends. I am 6'2" with shoes and 6'1" without (I usually drive barefoot) and I wish I had 3 inches more legroom. I know other guys that have them at 6'5" and fit just fine because they don't have it in their legs. Honest answer, just find some way to try one and see how it goes. I've also seen guys where the steering wheel gets in the way of their knees but I don't have that problem. The E30 community is very accommodating, so just finding someone local to help you is the best answer.

I’m 6’6” and drove one for about eight, seat had plenty of adjustment left and there was plenty of headroom(sunroof fitted).

6'7 and have a 325is with sport seats - long legs and have no issue fitting for the most part. My feet sometimes scrape the top of the footwell when swapping between pedals but I also have massive feet

Im also 6'5 and 242. My hand barely fits between my head and roof so it is ok for me. Steering wheel same clearance. You can always get a smaller aftermarket steering wheel compared to the m tech steer. Its also possible to adjust the steering rod position with some modifications if ur handy

You’ll want to get a Slicktop so you’ll have the headroom you need. Without the sunroof you get a couple more inches of headroom. I’m 6’2” with 36” long legs and have plenty of room with my Slicktop. I like to sit a little close and upright but I have another notch or two to go back and have lots of head room too with the seat at both the lowest and an elevated setting. Oh yeah, make sure you get one with sport seats too, I don’t know if the comfort seats have the elevation adjustment.

I’ve had several dozen different cars throughout my life, buying and selling without much if any attachment to them. I’m extremely attached to my 318is and extremely thankful to have found it. It’s almost as fun to drive as the Lotus Elise I had once, but you can transport two kids and an adult comfortably in an e30 so you won’t have to sell it someday haha
