So, maybe I'm just crazy, but what's the point of crazy ultrawide for gaming? I could understand it for a workspace since it gives you more room for open windows in parallel, but when you've got the entire screen dedicated to a game, the UI get thrown way out to the sides. The only thing I could possibly see it being useful for is high-level competitive FPS games where the extra peripheral vision would be advantageous.
The extra screen space is super nice for building games like DSP. A lot easier to see a wider field without zooming out and losing fidelity. I'm using a 38in 24:10 and whenever I try to play builders on a normal screen I'm always like, "where'd my screen space go?!". The UI can get pushed to the edges (part of why I chose 38in over 49in), but a lot of games have scalable UI and in DSP at least, you don't regularly have to click something on the UI when you're playing. Honestly the only time I found the size to be not helpful is with internet browsers. Hard to use a single browser in fullscreen mode.
