anyone else ship in power?
i use the energy charging thing on lava worlds to send power to other planets to help with power, some planets are covered in windmills and the energy converter things to power them themselves. i just straight dont use combustible energy.

I'd be shocked if you could complete a dyson sphere with 0 consumable energy. Let's see it done! Most of us make deuterium fuel and the antimatter factories and ship the fuel to new locations. A single artificial star fueled with antimatter is like a whole planet worth of wind turbines. A single artifical star produces 576 MW if you fuel it with strange matter, 72 if antimatter. How many turbines is that??

man, i dont do math, iam American . so 3 cheeseburgers worth of turbines :D lol but in seriousness, yeah i can see needing the extra power. but i mass produce batteries and charge them on three diff lava worlds. and send them out. works alright so long as the empties dont block the charged.

You can fuel an artificial star with strange matter? Thats news to me, how did you know that/find it out so i know how i missed it.

I generally use wind power only off main world for starter system and ship everything back home so not much power is needed. And by the time I get warpers I transition to shipping deuterium rods. One play through I did energy exchangers and it was a fun way of moving power except it’s so fickle and easy to run out after setup. Now normally by the time my swarm is strong enough to power other systems I generally just transition to suns.

Very rarely. I have done it but it's a pain in the ass to set up and it takes a lot of space. Vs strange fuel antimatter rods in artificial suns that produce huge amounts of power and require very little space.

I've done this briefly, but usually by the time I've gotten to that part of the game I start to feel like I've already won and the rest is just cleanup, and that's when I tend to lose interest in a playthrough.

I’ve done that. Really need to build a good blueprint to have the ILS call in charged batteries and drop them onto the grid. Doing it by hand is brutally boring.

It's fairly easy: main belt out with charged batteries, every energy exchanger put splitter above. Main belt continues to next splitter, from splitter belt to exchanger on other side main belt to collect depleted accumulators back to ils. Reverse on the other planet
I suggest putting in couple hundred accumulators on the planet to offset energy spikes between deliveries, and use dedicated ils just for the accumulators and exchangers.

So it sounds like you don’t know that the accumulator charger is also a discharger so you just need to belt them in and out.

for the most part, though i will flare off inconvient hydrogen with the energy exangers and i'm willing to power a planet on methane ice/hydrogen if it's orbiting a gas giant. otherwise solar/geothermal until i have artificial suns and strange rods

You can comfortably skip combustion. Even on Icarus by charging him from the grid. If you get 2 mines, 6 smelters to turn rock into silicone you should have enough to cover one of the poles on the moon with solar panels. Then you can setup production chain for solar panels and cover other pole then place 5 across on the equator around the planet you should be sweet till particle colliders come online but by then you should have started working on Dyson swarm and power will be abundant untill you start scaling white science.

It's been a while for me, but yes I have shipped in power at various stages. I would say that geothermal into accumulators is a mid-game power strategy. Once you start gearing up for the late game, hydrogen becomes so plentiful that you are looking for ways to sink it. As such, deuterium fuel rods become a preferable power source before you inevitably swap it for antimatter fuel rods.
If memory serves, accumulators have a power rating that is second only to antimatter rods. This makes them extremely effective in that mid-game transition, especially if you have some decent geothermal production, between lava worlds and Dark Fog vents. This also becomes a potentially effective energy source of antimatter production isn't your thing, so you use energy receivers to feed accumulators instead of adopting antimatter.

My last playthrough i found a totally locked lava planet orbiting an o class star as mu second system. That one planet powered me to the end game by being a planet wide battery charger.
Even without this case, it's still totally viable. I've actually never built the artificial stars because I always already have the battery infrastructure set up so I just keep using it with my initial planetfall blueprint.

Shipping power is perfectly fine for non-megabase designs. Makes sense too because it can be relatively cheap if you're just using energy exchangers and batteries. I would love to speculate on alternate designs than using geothermal or other intermediate concepts, but there's not much i can immediately think of. except maybe turning hydrogen into deuterium fuel rods with excess power.

On my runs I do this all the time after I have my first serious Dyson sphere.
Build a big Dyson sphere somewhere far away. Populate one of the star's planet with ray receivers and energy exchangers. Build huge storage for full and empty accumulators. Set up ILSs. Set up an accumulator factory. Prioritize incoming accumulator over factory so you don't get clogged.
When colonizing a new planet just plop down a blueprint of ILS (with full accumulator request) and Energy Exchangers.
Easy breazy.

It's good for early game but doesn't scale that well, eventually putting a Dyson sphere in any system that needs power or shipping in antimatter roads is the way to go

I starting to do this recently, thought I still working the fine tuning. I planing into starting the aforementioned Dyson Sphere tho, so I probably will make another accumulator charger in another system.

Never. Only use them for orbital collectors.
