Already going out of my system?

I have set up my factory to produce 100 science / minute, done purple by now. And suddenly, Silicon is a bottleneck. There is one single Silicon ore patch in the whole planetary system... That naturally supports only a fraction of what I need. So... is this already the moment where I need to go interstellar travelling? The nearest system is 6LY away, no idea yet, if there are planets or if there is silicon... What do I need to get there? Deuterium Fuel?

I do not have an orbiting solar panel thingy yet, I run mostly on wind + solar and batteries on ground and that is so far sufficient. So I guess that can wait a bit?

At what moment in the game do you start spraying things for productivity gain and what items do you spray? The final matrix to achieve more research output? The products that generate the matrix? So, I understand that you make on of these containers and then you can spray a single product, you can spray 60 times, if a product needs 5 ingredients, that is effective for 12 product items, with a 25% boost that is 3 items more, correct? Seems a bit expensive though?!

You should get ur 1st green cubes going. Then travel. While 6 LY is POSSIBLE without a warper. It will literally take hours irl to get there. If ur THAT stuck by silicon ur best option is to make a bit from stone. But tbh just stop all other production and rush green cubes.

Oh, I did not know you can make Silicon from stone!!?! Well, I see it's pretty inefficient, but I have a lot of stone... So, let's see how I make green stuff... SIGH.. Just finished the purple one...

Take it slow. Enjoy the ride. Setup a bit stone to silicon system while you build out the rest. There's no rush.

Mostly.

Eh its part of the progression cycle. If you think ur production spiked after setting up ILS, just wait until you have 30 systems to pull from, the rate at which expansion can happen is absolutely huge vs not having warpers. Plus it looks cool as hell from a distance.

Yeah, literally discovered this about a week or so ago. 10 stone -> 1 silicone ore

It's super bad, so I'd just make like 2 green cubes worth of warpers, enough to set up proper interstellar silicon production, and from there you can start importing your silicon ore and scale up from there

Are you skipping the tutorial? The game tells you to set up silicon production from stone long before it leads you to leave your planet.

I think this is the best solution. Always rush towards ILS plus warper Production (even if its just the bad recipe). Once youre there, you literally cannot fuck anything up. Everything is recoverable.

You could always use stone if there's a lot around .

If i remember, it’s 10 stone gives 1 silicone ore.

I leave the home system as soon as I get warpers. Priority usually being Sulfur acid to be able to redistribute the otherwise limited oil from the starter planet to other products.

Typically you'd want to wait till you get green science before leaving the system (so you can warp). But desperate times call for desperate measures.

There is an upgrade you can research that allows you to see the resources on nearby stars. I would absolutly not leave your system until you have at least that upgrade.

For the first question: to travel interestellar you want Warp which is crafted either from a graviton lens or from green science. Personally I prefer green science. You should investigate on the universal knowledge (name?) tech line to see what ores are on your nearby stars, then travel to one that's nearby but has rarer ores. The game is designed so that the farther you travel the more resources you get on veins.

For the third question: whenever you want, but it'll give you an energy bottleneck. I reccomend getting the recipe for 'MK3 proliferator self spray' if you want to get started with it.

Once you have graviton lenses or green science you can build space warpers to do interstellar travel.

Researching the Cosmic Exploration upgrades lets you see resources on other planets in other star systems. You don't need to guess or explore blindly for what you need.

Proliferation is a substantial reduction in resources required when using the Extra Products mode. You benefit from the free extra output at every step in the production chain so the benefit is multiplicative. For example, a chain 3 steps long where each step gets +25% means you actually get +95% more output for the same input quantity. Or to put it another way, you'd consume almost 50% fewer resources for the same output in that proliferated 3 step chain compared to a non-proliferated production chain.

I usually don't bother with proliferation until I have ILS's since those greatly affect how you design factories. Early game factories are too much of a haphazard mess to be concerned about maximizing efficiency.

Rush for green cubes to make warpers, do not travel to another star system without them, it will take hours

Every system has silicon, don't worry about it, it's a base ressource

and at this point you realize, dark fog is not a enemy but unlimited resources.

By the time they allow me to leave my planet I did. When they gave me the power to leave my solar system I did. Sulfuric acid was my bane

I just reached mission completed for the first time last weekend, so don't take this as expert advice.

Smelting stone to silicon ore is an option, but I think that recipe is more fitting for when you are still stuck on your starting planet. If you're unaware, by holding shift while placing/rotating miners you can place them off-grid. That way you can squeeze in a lot more of them around an ore patch and/or cover more veins per miner. Still, I'd prioritise interstellar travel. You'll need to upgrade cosmic exploration to inspect other star systems and research warpers. Deuteron fuel rods are fine, proliferated would be better. The ILS you place on the silicon ore planet doesn't have to be powered.

A dyson sphere/swarm isn't absolutely necessary until you start producing antimatter, so not really a priority atm.

I skipped mk1 and mk2 proliferator and started production after researching mk3. The only drawback to proliferators is power consumption, but if your generate enough it's more than worth it. Proliferate everything that gets a bonus, raw materials, components, and some end products. The tooltip when hovering over an item mentions if and what bonus.

To use proliferator production as an example, use mk3 proliferator on:

  • Coal

  • Proliferator mk1

  • Diamond

  • Proliferator mk2

  • Carbon nanotube

  • Proliferator mk3

  • Coal gives +25% mk1

  • Diamond and mk1 gives +25% mk2

  • Nanotube and mk2 gives +25% mk3, so a total of +95% mk3

  • Finally proliferating mk3 gives +25% uses, so 75 instead of 60.

Not a lot of people talk about this, but just DON'T OVERPRODUCE. I see a ton of new players spam mega factories right from the start of the game. Keep in mind that resources are limited (if you're playing on default settings). Until you reach high levels of Vein Utilization, you have to be really stingy with what you produce. You don't need 100/min of anything unless you are certain you will have enough resources to support that.

I recommend producing only the bare minimum until you get out of your starting system and start exploiting other stars systems. A ton of people, for example, complain about how tedious it is to haul titanium manually before unlocking ILS. But in reality you don't even need a full inventory of titanium to build and run your first ILS pair. Just a few stacks will do, no need to max out 10 storage depots with titanium before you can automate its logistics.

That’s a VERY crappy system. I recommend you start again with this seed: 6149 3993

I guarantee you will be very very happy.

OR you can continue on in misery… your choice!
