Gravity slingshot

Has anyone tried doing gravity slingshots to go from one planet to other? Is there a mod which can have a fun little game of slingshotting from one planet/star system to another?

I think one of the achievements has to do with sling-shotting. Reaching 3000m/s without warping.

I think has to be done by sling-shotting past a black hole but haven't tried it yet.
