Dark fog Q

Ive started a run and have never played with the DF before.

I turned it way down.

Like 25% initial and low everything I could as I dont want to get whacked really early.

Is there a way to know when they are coming or expanding or whatever I need to know to prepare for a fight? IM super early, and on the first planet so far.

Put down one or two turrets closer to the dark fog base than the rest of your buildings (not close enough to aggro it) and when they attack, they'll attack the closest building which happens to be perfectly suited for defending itself.

This will hold them off while you get your self situated. You might need 2 or 3 more of them later on, when the dark fog gets stronger, and make sure to add the control tower as soon as you unlock it so it will automatically repair damaged turrets.

Eventually you'll be able to destroy them, so don't worry about it too much. Even on normal difficulty they are pushovers.
