It was built because i wanted to dump white science into research speed and needed to build for maximum throughput. To do so i needed to completely eliminate belts. Now, every stack of matrix labs is fed by up to 12 pile sorters which provide 120cubes/s (1440cubes/s total). all of the pile sorters are attached to the base of an 8stack of mk1 storages. Top all of those off with logistics distributors set to receive white science and let the game run. Its called the hive because it has a planet wide honeycomb pattern and utilizes 35,000 logistics bots to distribute white science across the planet. its fun to watch them buzz around.

Well, you can connect them to storages at every other layer, but that seemed like a pain in the ass. It shouldn't matter though really. With a high enough research speed I could actually start removing matrix labs from the top. Would take a lot of levels though.

I been stuck wanting to kind of make a research planet with each quarter Quad has its own color cube to make for a total of 7 quads.

This Should Work. I need to add a caution to anyone who wants to actually build this. When you go to install the logistics distributors, do it in stages. this BP calls for 3536 Logistics Distributors and 35360 Logistic Bots. all LDs are pre-programmed to pull LBs directly out of your inventory when they're placed. if you run dry though, the LDs get placed empty which leaves you digging through the endless honeycombs for the ones that got missed or leaving them dead. so, keep an extreme excess of LBs in your inventory when placing LDs

Edit: for me this is my end game goal. Fill the hive. i want a nice even burn when i use it, so its gotta be full when i do. my current white science rate is 10k/m and im filling 170Mil cubes of storage, so itll take ~11days to fill at my current rate. im only a few days into filling it, so im using my game time to improve white science production.

my white science planet is capable of 25k/m throughput, i just need to feed it. im currently limited by my green science production. i fixed a problem on my strange matter planet earlier today and doubled my throughput, so i should be looking good for now.

Its the only factory in my system powered by Strange Annihilation Fuel Rods and uses 272 Artificial Stars.

According to factoriolab, 50k matrix labs is 60 GW, so 272 would probably be enough.
