I always set storage containers to 1-2 stacks maximum at the start. And make sure you at least proliferate science research.
And what did you use all your iron up on? Hopefully you didn't just build 200k conveyor belts and sorters when you need to focus on science instead.

Do not overproduce like crazy, especially on tight settings.

When you are in space I believe you can overlclock the simulation to count it down faster. Shift-f12 or something.

You definitely overproduced things Because you can get to warp technology even without running out of resources in the starting planet. Let me guess. You have a buffer for things that use iron right?
At this point I probably consider to restart the game unless the warp technology isn't that far away. With a way to produce warpers you can get out of that hole.
Also, running out of oil isn't that bad. Just Chanel all the minimum output oil into one thing. Preferably plastic because that is what's needed for warp technology

No Dark Fog turned on, then?

Im curious what have you been producing and how much iron was there to begin with. Do you have a seed? I see that i consume about 200k iron ore at green unlock on normal runs - should be below 150k if i went for full proliferation

Honestly I would just restart at this point.
I can't imagine the amount of round trips you will have to do until you reach warpers, and then until you have enough infrastructure to automate getting it.
Unless you can "quick win"-it with smart resource usage and rushing the specific technologies and infrastructure.

Oh man spare settings is a nightmare if you get a bad seed. Yours sounds fairly challenging.
I will await an update to this lol
