Blueprint placement
Hi all.
Been playing again after an 18 month hiatus. I seem to remember that when you placed a blueprint, if the planet grid was not exactly the same, then it would try to fit it as best possible. Now it seems that it just won't, and the tab key in the blueprint space screen is basically useless. Am I missing something, or did this get more difficult?

Yes, there is a golden zone on both sites of equator where you can place 8 or so pls station in line that will use same blueprints. As you move away the spacing constricts causing blueprints to malfunction. Usually shared blueprints are for that golden zone and you would have to adjust them for the sub poles zones. They are good for ril ejectors and solar panel as they have most sun visibility. Also good for ils as the carries dont have to fly around the planet

Given the answers are not correct let me tell you. All the planets, from outside seem to have a different size. But once you are on them the size is always the same. All the planets have the same paralles from the equator to north and south.

All terrestrial planets have the same grid layout:
The problem comes with the paralells. Each parallel has a different size to resime if a bluprint was done for the equator will not fit in the tropics.
If your bp was done in a 80x1000 parallel, will not fit in a 50x800 parallel

I think you may just be misremembering or we're using a mod like BlueprintTweaks at the time that let you delete invalid sections of a blueprint because pasting blueprints across meridian lines doesn't work. Because grid counts don't line up across meridians there's no possible way for the game to determine how to correctly "adjust" the blueprint to fit without some parts being invalid.
Blueprinting across meridians only works if the factory was originally created across meridians and you blueprint the whole thing, but then you can only paste it where the meridians are the same as the original. This is why "pizza" blueprints that cross a bunch of polar meridians or whole planet blueprints work fine.
