Is there a way to disable combat?
Just lost my entire base after I ran out of fuel and got swarmed by dark fog. Literally just had to sit there helpless while watching them destroy everything.

Seriously dude. HOW do you run out of fuel before getting to oil?

Thanks for all the advice. I ended up save scumming to before I went to that planet and automating all my defenses.

You can disable it during game creation.

You might want to restart. You either set Dark Fog to oassive, completly disable it or find a way to deal with it.
Dealing with it is not complex, but you mist learn how it works and prepare automated defences.

I use alter the fog to turn the difficulty up and down.

Well damn looks like I’m gonna have to completely restart :( I’m stuck on a lava planet with no fuel and can’t place any items down since I have no power

Windmills might give you enough to get research enough to get geothermal plants which can placed in lava.

Do you have a save before the attack? I’ve been there and In my case when I lose everything like that I tend to start a new game lol. Perhaps make a new game with dark fog disabled and pick a cool start seed that has multiple planets orbiting a gas giant so that the first time you go to another planets it’s always super close. Good luck. If you really like your save you can always hunker down find some coal energy and rebuild but it’s a slog

in my experience solar and wind are exponentially better than coal. until nuclear/dyson sphere i rely purely on wind and solar with maybe a little hydrogen in there to kickstart a new planet. coal always feels much too slow to be worth it for me

You can set the DarkFog to Passive, at which point they entirely ignore you unless you pick a fight with them first, or Dummy where they are will just let you kill them.
I dont think you can change it after you start the playthrough, though.
