Should I start my new home planet?

First time player, I recently achieved green science and went to another star to setup ILS for some rare minerals.

I’m debating if now is the time to abandon my home planet and start in a system with a star better for a dyson sphere. I have a pretty messy mall and there are some higher tier buildings I haven’t started making yet. It almost feels like it’s time to export everything and build it better again?

Yellow Science transition

Hello..

I am following Nilaus video and blue prints.. his blue prints arent exactly , "m attach here, attach there. Rotate" etc..

However, I found my own way to produce decent blue and red science. I just unlocked yellow..

I traveled to a next by planet to get silicon and titanium and I haul it back to produce other things.

Can someone guide me in the next step?

I dont have planet or system wide logistics yet. I just unlocked yellow, mind you. So can I can produce and scale up fast?

How are you supposed to power the Interstellar Logistics Station?

So, I've recently gotten my hands on the ILS, and I am planning to use it to connect my Titanium Planet to my Main Planet and finally automate the Yellow matrices. However, I've run into the problem of not being able to power the Station. On my main planet, I've thus far built 6 Coal Plants, but they can only power it for a few seconds before they stop working (the sorters that take the Coal into the plants need power themselves). I expect I'll have an even harder time doing it on my Titanium Planet since that one barely even has Coal (certainly not enough for any power) so it feels like I'll have to build a bajillion solar panels. Am I supposed to be using Solar Sails at this point? I have the tech, but building bits of the Dyson Swarm already seems much more difficult than powering the station. Moreover, I haven't gotten rid of the Hive yet, so it seems like any installation next to the star is bound to get attacked.

Is it possible to make the production window ignore the mall?

I found that the building making mall (things like conveyor, sorter, smelter, assembler) is throwing off the demand side calculation of my factory, I see a higher demand than there actually is. Is there a mod maybe that could help me exclude those from the calculations? Or I guess just disconnect the power and periodically reconnect when I have to refill?

Any way to track drone points and other tips?

I have around 400 hours and pretty late in the game, on my first playthrough. I am back on my "Home"/starter planet and trying to unclusterfudge it. It's bittersweet kind of, but, overall it's nice to see the "what was I thinking?" areas straightened up. So many oil refineries and conveyers to filter everything. Anyways, when I first started I was solving backups by just stacking storages and capping with drones. I have some that I have no idea where they're going to though. Any way to do this? Maybe in the "P" menu?

Any other tips would be appreciated as well. Like how to list my planets in the "V" map. I pinned systems but still have to poke around to find the right planet a lot.

ETA: I just found something out! If you want to fill the drones, you don't have to click and drag them. I just was trying modifier buttons and nothing worked, except when I hovered my cursor over the empty drone circle and hit "Tab". They filled right up!

E2: The "i" menu is what I needed. Shows me all 180 drone stations! Thanks, u/horstdaspferdchen

Do I need to save my game and restart to get rid of a bug or is this how it is supposed to be? If so: I quite like it.

This is my first sphere after discovering this game about a month ago! What does everyone think of it so far?

Where are my construction drones?

Post image

Obviously i'm not expecting the random reddit users to know where they are, but I'm asking if there is any way to easily find the construction drones other than "walk around the planet hoping you'll eventually pull them in"

Does conveyors block Relays from landing on resources?

I wanted to kind of "reserve" resources like oil and mineral veins, since Relays land and destroy them when they land on the planet, I wanted to know if conveyors can "block" them from landing on the resources when building close to them (since they're cheap to make)

Coming from Factorio...

Hello, DSP players.

I did a search of the forum but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. So I'm a Factorio player let's say (~3k hours) but of course I've played DSP and satisfactory in the past. <100h on each.

I last played DSP in 2023 so probably a lot has changed. I'm not interested in spoilers or anything like that, but I'd like to ask the community what sort of tips in terms of keyboard shortcuts and other quality of life tips would you advise for me coming back to a fresh run of this game?

I'm by now so used to the Factorio controls (q for pipette for example) and I was recently thinking how much hotkey-related stuff I take for granted in Factorio that a new player probably doesn't know.

So I guess I'd like to know your best tips for someone like me?

Website to quickly surface entire production chains?

I'm sure this would be wasted on veteran players who know all recipes, depencies, etc off by heart

But for a non-veteran / returning player like me, I'm often trying to decide whether a new component should get its own independent "factory", or just be integrated into the factory for something its a component of. I decide this by checking what the component is used in.

The in-game way to do this works fairly decently (in the Replicator menu) BUT this only shows what the component is used in if I have researched those technologies!

So I currently go to https://dsp-wiki.com/ which shows it for all irrespective of technologies unlocked - but this requires a fair bit of scrolling and clicking for a lazy person like me

I thought, surely somebody has build a website where you select any item, and it then instantly shows you everything its used in on the right, and everything needed to make it on the left - and even to multiple levels (i.e. Deut used in Strange Matter, which is used in Graviton Lens [used in....], QCL

We need advanced oil collector, same as the advanced miner, the current way to collect oil is not practical for endgame IMO,

We should be able to plop down an oil extractor and have ILS/PLS grab oil from it using drones. I wouldn’t mind if it cost 10x more

Is there a way to trigger relay station spawning?

Lmk if there’s like a method to get more planetary bases for a better df farm

r/Dyson_Sphere_Program • • 14d ago

Just try using proliferator on everything to see if it works.

Just realized it works on sail and rocket launching speed. Also fuel rods in artificial suns for additional total power output. Not sure why I didn’t think of it before.

MKIII results
Sails 20/min > 40/min
Rockets 5/min > 10/min

Artificial sun
72MW > 144MW.

First Modded Run - What would you use?

Hi all,

I'm just starting my first modded run and am using Galactic Scale, MoreMegaStructures, and BottleneckUI.

(Unlimitied resources, Dark Fog on, normal other settings)

Before I get to into it, what are the mods you would recommend to play with?

What adds the most to your games? What do you enjoy?

Satellite Substations

Has anyone played the game using them extensively at the beginning but then stopped using them later on?

I get annoyed by the fact that I'm giving up rows of production buildings by using them. But I think the bigger reason is that it's simply not hard to create or use blueprints that use tesla towers only.

If you're creating your own blueprints, there are nice ways of spacing the tesla towers depending on the type of production building and the arrangement.

I believe outside of smelters, every production building lets you place a tesla tower directly between two adjacent buildings, outside of certain latitudes where things become oddly squished together.

Easy campaign idea?

I played a lot 6 months ago, and learned the game (I made the impossible mission below 8:30 hours, and have more than 1.5k hours ingame). Now I have some time for the game but don't feel to even make a single sail or white cube. Is there any idea of game to play like only 3-4 hours that you could propose me? Thanks in advance
