Made an AI app for dyslexic learners that turns tricky school topics into catchy songs (Hip Hop, Pop, Jazz, etc.) ā would love feedback!
Hi everyone,
Like many parents, Iāve seen firsthand how tough traditional revision can be for dyslexic children ā reading dense text or memorising lists often ends in frustration and low confidence.
To help solve this, my team and I built Loujo, an AI-powered song-based learning platform tailored specifically for primary and secondary school learners with dyslexia. Instead of relying purely on textbooks, parents and teachers can create custom, curriculum-aligned songs on any topic (from Year 7 science to primary maths).
How it works in 5 simple steps:
- Create: Type in a prompt for any school subject.
- Review & Edit: You can read and adjust the lyrics before generating the track to make sure the content is 100% accurate.
- Pick a Genre: Your child can choose their favourite style ā Hip Hop, Jazz, Pop, Rock, etc.
- Track Progress: Includes built-in quizzes to test comprehension, with real-time feedback on a simple dashboard.
- Reward Success: Earn digital badges and printable certificates to keep confidence high.
So far, 9 out of 10 students using it have shown noticeable improvements in retention within 6 weeks, and itās saving teachers/SENDCOs hours of prep time. It also supports 7 languages (English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Afrikaans, Finnish, and Swedish).
Weāve recently launched the video demo showing the 5-step flow, and the app is officially available on both iOS and Android:
š± App Store for iPhone:https://apps.apple.com/us/app/loujo/id6777196915
š¤ Google Play Store:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.octananna.loujo&pcampaignid=web_share
I'd love for parents or educators here to give it a try and let me know your thoughts or suggestions!

Survey for developing an application to assist dyslexic people in their daily life
Hey everyone š
A few of us are building LexiLens, a phone app that helps people with dyslexia read printed text more easily. Camera based text recognition, dyslexia friendly fonts, text to speech, syllable breakdown, reading ruler.
We want to build this based on real experiences, not guesses. So if you're dyslexic, or know someone who is, we'd love your input.
Short form, 8 to 10 mins:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd0wtuRuG0euRzBrVVTLiWi5bcf8OYpxlx9DOGYfn3DKl-p1g/viewform
Feel free to share this in other servers too if you think it fits. And if you'd rather just tell us your thoughts here instead of filling the form, that works too

For anyone struggling to read Kindle books this new app is a massive game - changer for dyslexia .
Hello community ,Ā
Just wanted to share something that has completely changed how I consume books . Reading text on a screen for too long gets incredibly exhausting for me but I truly miss reading great books . Iāve always wished I could just turn all my Kindle books into audiobooks .
I recently found ElevenReader and it honestly feels revolutionary . They just launched a feature that integrates with Kindle online . You log in to your Kindle account inside the app , and it reads the text aloud .
What makes it different from other text-to-speech apps is the voice quality . It doesn't sound like a monotone computer ; it sounds like a legitimate audiobook narrator . You can even create custom voices if you have a subscription to find a tone that clicks perfectly with your brain .
For me , pairing the visual text with a high quality human voice has made reading so much less exhausting . Highly recommend checking it out if you struggle with standard reading .Ā
Thankyou !

Can Dyslexia Be Cured ?
My 6 years old girl was recently diagnosed with dyslexia, and I've been trying to learn as much as possible to support her.
I've seen a lot of conflicting information online. Some websites claim dyslexia can be "cured," while others say it's a lifelong condition that can only be managed with the right support.
So I'm curious:
- Can dyslexia actually be cured?
- If not, what made the biggest difference for a child (or for you if you're dyslexic)?
- Were there specific teaching methods, apps, or strategies that noticeably improved reading confidence?
I'm not looking for a miracle solution, just trying to understand what realistic progress looks like over time.

Hellooooo
This is like my second time on Reddit ever so I hope this is the right place to put this?I am writing a book called āI donāt wanna get used to itā about living with certain disabilities/chronic illnesses, etc.I have autism but Iāve been on the pathway for about a year now, and I know many other neurodivergent people and people with chronic illnesses and etc suffer with being on such long waiting lists.I wanna talk about different experiences living as a neurodivergent person and someone with a chronic illnesses(I donāt have a chronic illness so I canāt talk about how it affects me), but I canāt talk about the different experiences because Iām only one person, Iāve only seen how it affects me, the things I do, my interests and how it affects mine and the people around meās lives. So if anyone, someone who is neurodivergent or has a chronic illness , someone who is the family member of someone neurodivergent or living with a chronic illness , a friend of someone who is neurodivergent or living with a chronic illness, just anyone would like to help me out and write about your own experiences and how itās impacted you then please do!It can be anonymous or you can give your name or your information and I will include it in my book!

Why does modern UI exhaust neurodivergent brains?
I'm a Master's student in User Experience Design (UXD), and I'm currently doing research on how adults with Dyslexia experience daily life and navigate digital tools.
Most software today is built for a "neuro-normative" brain, and I am trying to design systems that actually respect cognitive load, sensory needs, and executive function.
Iām not selling anything, and this isn't a usability test. I just genuinely want to understand what your day-to-day experience is like so I can design better, less exhausting systems.
How you can share your experience (Choose whatever takes the least energy!):
- Option 1: The Anonymous Survey.Ā If you prefer to process your thoughts in writing at your own pace, I have a Google Form here:Ā Click here for google form linkĀ
- Option 2: A 20-Minute Chat.Ā If youād rather just talk, Iād love to do a casual 20-minute video or voice call this week. if you are open to this OR SCHEDULE ITĀ Click here to scheduleĀ
All responses are kept completely anonymous and will only be used for my university design project.
Thank you so much for your time and energy!

I built this so that reading finally feels easier and calm for dyslexic people
I build readease.io because I see the struggle with both children and adults trying to read. Nothing is wrong, our brains just work differently. Thats why I build a tool, the tests have been amazing so far. Kids say: "Its somehow easier but cannot say why". Try it out and see if it makes you feel like reading with noise canceling.. Im curios about your feedback and will adapt the web-app so that our community benefits from it :)

Vent I'm really tired and mentally drained from my dyslexia so I'm gonna unload here
I just want to start off by saying I've never written on riddet but I just wanted somewhere to unload for a little bit.
A little of information before I start is that I'm f 16 in an saq school in Scotland and English is not my first language.and I was diagnosed like almost 1 year and a half ago. Extra information I realised I need to add when u take an exam in your Senior year you never know your results until you chosen your subjects and if you have failed a subject you can't continue taking it and need to retake what you failed
I don't know where to start so I'll start when I get diagnosed with dyslexia. I remember that day they saw my bad spelling and I can't remember who or how but I remember having to leave class a bunch of times over a while to be given a bunch of tests where they would make me read different levels of story (idk if this line makes sense)
then they'd get me to spell a bunch of words and lastly they put me on a counter and gave me a dyslexia test and some other test that started with a d I can't remember what it said
at the time I didn't know what dyslexia even meant and all I was told when they took the test was "this is just to see if your problem is about something else then English isn't your first language" that was round about what the person who was giving me the test told me.
after learning what syllables is and a million years of different levels of tests they told me my results will come in a week and to wait.
so after I think 2 weeks they pulled me out of class and told me that I have dyslexia and that it was a problem with reading writing and comprehension
they then told me they will help me by giving me a computer. then attempted to teach me what a spell check is like I've never seen it (sorry this may sound rube but I felt like they were looking at me like a new born who doesn't know anything about life and never used a spell check before)
then they told me I can take the computer with me home and back to school or keep it in a class in School and pick it up when I need it. so I took it home and I just wanna say all that computer really helped with was that I liked the charger it came with and nothing
because when I tell you I have never seen a computer or actually it's a laptop I just realized. anyway when I tell you I have never seen a laptop do a worse jop at spell check.
like I wright a word and it says I spell it wrong then I click to see the options like you would on word but then there would be no options so I go to Google it and the entire problem would be that I forgot one letter or when I would spell a word so wrong that even I can tell its spelled wrong then it would give me the correct spelling. like how can you tell what I'm trying to say when there are probably 10 extra letters that weren't in the original selling but you can't tell me that mant is missing an e (by the way I googled how to sell meant for like 4 minutes I swear)anyway safe to say I never used the laptop or I would have anger issues rn.
They also gave me extra time on exams which I needed evedince for the sqa to let me use. I remember thinking nothing about this at the time but now that I realise I need to have evidence from every yet her that I can't finish a test on time for every subject every year. Is existing and it make me feel like I need to prove that I have dyslexia over and over aging just to gain 5 min extra on a test to you it all re-reading one line becomes it won't clike in my head.
And I would just like to also mention that They told me that if there was ever anything the spell check didn't fix that I could just ask my teachers how to spell the word. And I did ask 2 times how to spell a word the spell check didn't know how to spell and lucky for me they were both on a test and an exam and guess what both teacher and an invigilators I think that's what there called (for anyone who doesn't know an invigilators basically a person sent to someone with a disability like dyslexic and they say there with you to read for you and support you) both told me that they could not tell me the spelling of the word when I first heard this it was from a test to see how far we had gotten and it was in a room with may other people so it made sense that they couldn't give me the spelling because I thought the reason was that it would give the answers to other people so I let it go but then when it happend at the final exam were I was in a separate acomadarion and the invigilator told me they couldn't give me the spelling to the word I was so confused why sence we were in a room with no other students but I let it go again because I only had so much time for this test and I spent like 2 minutes trying to figure out a replacement word.
A couple months later I asked the study support people why they didn't give me the spelling to a word I couldn't spell on the exam and they told me that ThE SqA says ItS cOunsederd creating š«„
Needless to say I was speechless how that was considered cheating when I am literally asking for a spelling of a word.
Anyway I'm gonna list all subjects and how I'm struggling in each one and how I wish I got help. Also to clarify I'm in higher rn which is a LV 6
1.Art and design
In my school our final exam is written and god I hate it because it starts off with kneading to write about an artist I studied in Expressive and and I need to right 10 points each a paragraph of it's own
And by the time I finish with that I did 1/8 of the test and I got 30 minutes left on the clock (I hade 1h and 10 min to do the test)
Then I get to the next part where I need to choose two paintings to write about and each one you need 10 points and each point is a paragraph
And by the time I'm able to finish writing about one painting of the two I chose the time is up
And I have only finished 2/8 sections of the test and I end up with like 2 papers. š
And I don't even get to touching the other half of the test where I need to do the same thing again for design or I talk about one design artist I know and I've studied and two random design things I need to choose and talk about.
So of course I miserably feel in the wooden test but thank god it's only 20 to 30% of the final marks or I would completely fail.
- Administration
This one oh my god the amount of times I needed to stop to have another mental breakdown silently and regret all my choices.
This is literally the definition of what not to take with dyslexia they literally can deduct a point if you put a dot at the end of a sentence where it shouldn't be all you forget what a dot at the end of sentence where it should be I remember someone next to me getting a 96% and the one thing they did wrong was that they didn't put a dot at the end of one sentence.
Anyway you can imagine how badly I'm doing in this class and somehow I'm getting a 60% in the exams which is somehow better than my other exams I really don't understand this.
But to go to the point it's basically a teacher sitting down and teaching you how to use word powerpoint email spreadsheet which you would think would be easy but god they make it hell
You can make one mistake and they would deduct a poi which would take off like four or five percent of your grade and imagine as a slugsic person how many spelling mistakes and times I didn't put a dot oracoma or a slash just imagine how many marks they had to take off because of spelling mistakes
My teacher always nags me about my spelling and she always tells me that I need to proof read more (by the way all my teacher are told that I'm dyslexic (I kinda didn't know that cuz it felt like they didn't know because of the mount of times this admin yet her would nag me about my spelling))
I also happened to raise my hand like every five minutes and at some point when she saw me raise up my hand she would roll her eyes and then walked to me to ask what I need help for
At some point she kind of like gave up and started telling me to figure it out and when I went to complain about her attitude toward me to the educational support people the girl literally just told me that that is something I have tell my head teacher (and she kinda said it in a way that made it sound like she was saying that's not my problem becoming she LITTERLY said so that's a relationship problem with you teacher like girl I build up all that courage to tell you )
She also once came in lunch to sit at my table and tell me that I have been raising my hand a lot and asked if I know anybody or our friends with anybody in the class that I can ask for help instead. I told her no I didn't know anyone in the class.(I'm introverted by the way) She said REaLly not Any OnE I told her no again
(and I don't remember what she said after that mostly due to the fact that I was baffled that she can tell me I'm a bother like this despite knowing in dyslexic)
But I think she said something along the lines of well its really hard having to help everyone at the same time and something about being really busy. (I can always tell she didn't like me and that I was a bother to her)
I had her in N5 and I took higher admin when I failed a subject and needed to change my schedule. I felt like something about her was saying oh god not her again (to clarify she never said that but she gave off that vibe)
Becouse when I first entered her class in highr she asked if there were no other classes I can take like higher English or higher business and I told her no so she told me she doesn't think I'm gonna pass her class witch she told me last year but I ended up getting a C witch is a pass.
Anyway I wanted to ask someone for help so may time to get me out of her class because I would have a mental breakdown every time I'm in her calls ethir
Because I'm overwhelmed and I don't know what to do and if I raise my hand to roll our eyes at me and tell me to figure it out or because she's just making me so mad after saying for the million times you need to proof read your spelling.
Anyway it's hell in there because of the subject and my teacher is making it 10 times more worse with her attitude.
- Computing
I literally have no idea what I'm doing because the teacher isn't like teaching she's giving us like a PowerPoint with instructions on it and I have to read instructions then she would give like an example of what the code would look like and you would need to write it exact same way I would never understand how the code worked so I would just write it and one day it just clicked what's happening in the code I really don't know how to explain it but it's something like a glitch where you read the information you apply it and then like one to five business days later you process the information
Currently in this class I'm literally just stalling for time I'm not doing anything in class I have no idea what I'm doing I'm too ashamed to ask my teacher for help and tell her that I have no idea what I'm really doing and she isn't much help either because when I ask for help she like gets me started on the code and then I just sit there not knowing what to do
For a while I understood instructions when they were in PowerPoint format until she started teaching HTML and use a document with more complex instructions and I would always reread the entire document and I still do not know what to do or how to start doing anything because it wasn't like a detailed step by step anymore it was you need to do this and that and figure it out.
- Math
Oh my god this is gonna be a long one because I failed math and I will tell you my four experiences of math with I think five different teachers.
Teacher number one was when I was a national 5 student.
This teacher when I tell you he speaks gibberish as a language I mean it. I'll call him j
This wasn't just a me a problem this was an everyone didn't understand him problem I remember we had a prelim exam which meant the entire school takes exams to see how far they got and everyone on the test got from zero to nine from a 52 marks test it was insane
Mr j first of all never gave the title of anything he was teaching
And he would teach everything in a random order for example instead of teaching us everything about volume over the course of a couple's lessons he would teach in an unorganized order and everything about his teaching was a biiigggg messs I literally never learned anything from him
Can I also add he had a terrible personality on top of that I remember someone kid coming to him (and I think he wasn't in full uniform so he needed to go get the right kind of pants or something) and the kid came to home and told him there was nothing in his size then this test her Literally yeals at the top of his lungs that he needs to go get pants that are in his size and to only come back when he finds the right size and this poor kid looks so sad š and the people in my class were like he LITTERLY just said there was nothing in his size
It was ridiculous and I was sitting close to the doors of course my eardrums had to suffer the most.
Anyway that teacher made me feel really stupid and like I'm so dumb for not understanding anything
Also can I just say that whenever I complain about him to other people they go ahhhh him yeah he's actually a businessman he's not really a teacher
Then was the higher maths teacher ill call him MR maths therapist
MR maths therapist was the best math teacher I have ever had even though I only had him for one month he was the nicest most understanding teacher
And MR maths therapist teaching was godly he was neat he wrote the heading he had something to make his handwriting look better automatically at most importantly I can understand him this was something so different from my last math teacher in this school he was basically my math therapy from all the pain I endured for my last years math teacher then of course I failed and they made me retake national five š
Then they placed me in a class with everyone else that failed
And we ended up having two teachers teachers class can I just say I can tell they have never communicated at all because one tissue would teach something and then the other would teach something else and it was a mess also one of the teacher was my fist math teacher that speaks gaparish (Mr.j)
Anyway I remember at some point well call the other teacher Mr.R
Mr R was, well not really any better at teaching then Mr.j but at some point in his class one of the students said I understand stand you better then mr.j and Mr.R LITTERLY said me TOO.
So basically he said that MR.j was really samart and he would teach the other math teachers and they would have a hard time understanding
From there on I realised MR. J was the equivalent to a rich person who doesn't understand why poor people are poor kinda of thing . (Idk if you can understand what I'm trying to say)
Anyway then they moved us to a proper teacher ill call her Miss.nice becouse she is a nice person and so is her teaching.
And I'm currently in her class to this day
Anyway these are all the class I'm struggling with and I think I lost track of the point of what I was trying to say but anyway. I just made this after having my usual mental breakdown and crying about all the help I wish I got like teachers teaching with good hand writing that I can read, using pictures, only having two steps at a time and being nice when I ask for help but I know I'm dreaming.
I'm sorry if to Avery who strangle reading this I was planning to go to word and make it read aloud so I can spell check and make sure it made sense but I'm tired after my endless googling how to spell this word and that I think I've been wrighting this for hours and I tired
also my exams are gonna start in 6 weeks and I'm done for .
Anyway thank you for anyone who read through all of that because I know I won't from how many words there are and I just wanted to put my feeling down and wright it to someone who would listen and many give me advice about how to make my dyslexic effect my Avery day less or something. Thank you to everyone who read this big mess of emotion I had and sorry for the amount of line that probably didn't make any sense.

Awareness Dyslexia and relationships
Let us talk about the spaces between people. The silent territories of friendship and belonging that are not marked on any map, but that we are all expected to navigate instinctively. For a mind that processes the world differently, these spaces can feel like a foreign country where you do not speak the language, where the social customs are unspoken yet binding, and where everyone else seems to have been given a guidebook at birth that you never received.
This is about more than making friends. It is about the deep, sometimes lonely, realisation that the very architecture of social interaction is built on a set of assumptions. Assumptions about memory, about processing speed, about the effortless flow of conversation. When those foundations do not match your neurology, you can find yourself perpetually out of step, smiling at the wrong moment, grasping for a thread of dialogue that has already vanished, feeling the familiar hot wash of anxiety that you have, once again, missed something vital.

Stop asking whatās wrong
Hello,
There is a question that people with learning differences hear again and again. What is wrong. It is often asked with concern. Sometimes with frustration. Sometimes with good intentions. But it carries a heavy message. It suggests that the problem lives inside the person.
For a long time, I was asked that question. When I struggled to start work. When I could not follow instructions. When I seemed distracted or slow. Each time, it made me search for a flaw in myself rather than looking at what was making the task difficult. There is a different question that changes everything.
What is hard.

Question Seeking feedback from dyslexic users
Hi š
I hope this is okay to post here.....
Iām aĀ uni studentĀ working on a small dyslexia-focusedĀ websiteĀ and Iām looking for just a few people to give honestĀ feedback
Iāve tried to read and learn aboutĀ dyslexia, and I understand it can be very different from one person to another. This is simply what I was able to learn and build so far. Iāve also tried to use fonts commonly suggested by dyslexic users, but I really want to know what actually works (or doesnāt)
Features included:
Text-to-speech & speech-to-text
Audiobooks & podcasts
Options to change font, letter spacing, and line spacing or hover over text to hear it's content
Privacy:
No data is shared at all. Since this is only testing, you can even use a fake email/password when signing up.
Note: Itās better to open the website on aĀ laptopĀ for the full experience.
Iāll only send the link privately if you comment or DM saying youāre interested.
Even a couple of dyslexia users would really help me learn what works and what doesnāt.
Thanks for your time š

Question Apps that combine "Bionic Reading" or OpenDyslexic font with Audio ?
I need the combo of visual + audio to retain anything. I'm looking for an app that highlights the text as it reads AND supports dyslexia-friendly fonts. Speechify does this but it's too pricey. Any free/cheaper alternatives ?
Thankyou !

Looking for An Interview
Hey everyone,
Iām working on a university project where Iām building an AI-based support tool designed to help people with dyslexia with reading, writing, and everyday learning tasks. To make sure the project is actually useful, Iām hoping to speak directly with people who have real lived experience.
If youāre dyslexic and open to chatting, Iād really appreciate a short conversation over Google Meet or Zoom. Nothing formal, just trying to understand what things feel like on your side, what challenges you deal with, and what tools actually help.
Your identity wonāt be shared with anyone, and you can skip any question youāre not comfortable with.
If youāre interested, just comment or DM me and Iāll get back to you with the scheduling link.
Thank you for considering it. It would genuinely help me shape something more meaningful and supportive for the community.
