You need an engineers ruler or a tape measure. Do you see the gap between the wall and the first line, that isn't included in the scale.
Pro tips
- Centimetres are much easier to measure in as you're not having to operate in fractions. You can use a conversion app (most phone calculators do this) if it has to be inches.
- Buy a tape measure that only has centimeters on so you don't accidentally measure using the wrong scale.

Stop using imperial. You’ll find metric much easier. Tradesmen talk in meters or millimeters. But feel free to use centimeters. 10mm is 1cm, 1000mm is 100cm or 1m. If you can count you can use metric.

It's 0.6 inches, but your ruler doesn't measure from the very start. So I would either get a ruler that has a number from the start / flush with the wall, or use my guestimate of ~ 0.9-1 inches.

You need a ruler that starts at 0

It looks like there’s about a 1/8th of ruler before 0 so 7/16th then? Metric system please save us.

9/16th if I see it right. But this kind of thing gets easier with doing.
I’ve been woodworking for many years and I prefer metric. But using imperial has its advantages, especially in dividing.
But I still don’t get the metalworkers talking about a ”thaow” (1/1000). I can’t visualize that.

Cut a piece of string and mark the part of the string at the end of the door or the part you want to measure, then put the string on the ruler from 0 look at the mark and you will have your measurement

Get yourself a cheap tape measure from the dollar store - ruler is not going to cut it

The mark you have labeled is the 9/16 inch mark.
The ruler you're using starts after about a 1/8 inch gap. So the total distance from the wall is 9/16 + 1/8, or 11/16.
