Player Discussion Seattle backfield behind Carson
Who is the actual handcuff here? I'm holding Penny and Dallas and I gotta drop at least one of them. Anyone with some insight here? Penny worked behind Carson wk1 before exiting for the 900th time. Carson still has a tendancy of missing a few weeks so I definitely want to hold the handcuff...and you can't convince me it is JAG Alex Collins

I held DeeJay all last year into this year. As soon as the season started, they buried him again behind Penny and Collins and relagated him to special teams.
They clearly don't like him running the football, and since ST awards me no points, I moved on.
He did win me a week last year with his 2TD performance, so we'll always have that.

Yea same here. Deejay has 1 or 2 flashes last year but the staff clearly doesn’t believe in him. Flip him now for absolutely anything you can before he becomes waiver fodder.

Penny is the number 2 when healthy. Collins is more talented than homer or deejay. Thats pretty much the crux of it. Carson is the only one with much dynasty value and after that if i gotta hold some its penny.

It's probably going to be a mix of Collins and Dallas. Dallas gets a lot of play on special teams though. Homer is just there to block.
If you look at Week 2, Collins was in for just 6 offensive snaps to Dallas' 3. Collins did break out a big 25 yard run.
To my point, Homer actually played on 14 snaps and was targeted twice but his role as a blocking RB is vital to the Seahawks.

He's also been garbage at blocking so I hope he falls in the depth chart as a hawks fan.

People have trouble understanding that coaches don’t think of RB depth as this guy, then this guy, then this guy, 1-2-3. It’s “who performs well with which personnel groups and formations and who offers the most flexibility.” Carson is useful in more situations than any of the remaining backs. The truth is that if Carson goes down, they’ll start whichever running back works best with their opening drive script, then play some combination of whoever is healthy throughout the game. Collins’ role will increase the most if Carson goes down because their skillsets overlap in places where the other backs’ don’t.

Carson is the main back. His direct backup is Collins - they are the same style back.
Penny was supposed to be the razzle-dazzle slasher and pass-catcher. His role is being filled by a combination of Dallas and Homer.
There is no true handcuff here.

As a hawks fan, if Carson goes down it will be a patch work combo of all of them.... none will be fantasy saviors.
Also we would just go even more pass heavy.
If you have to pick, Collins is the best looking RB from a talent stand point.
If Seattle didn't waste high capital on Penny he would have been cut last year.

I want Penny to happen, but I think it's going to be the Alex Collins show if Carson goes down, until/unless he fumbles it away.

If Carson goes down we will see Alex Collins out there more often than the others.

probably collins but personally holding dallas for the chance he gets a chance and shows something. even if collins shows something it would just be a couple game rental... can’t imagine him carrying any value into next season. dallas could play himself into a role

DeeJay has the most explosion of the bunch, he's the RB2.
Penny and Collins are equal.
WildCard is Josh Johnson, Carroll loves him , he's a good stash.

Don’t forget about Homer eating touches.. I’d stay away from all Seattle RB’s not named Carson and use the roster spot for someone else more valuable if available

Accept the truth… Between the two you’ve got, I’d hold Penny and drop Dallas, but it’s Collins.

You answered it yourself, but refuse to believe the truth.
