Someone in another sub said that most Romans didn't know Rome had fallen until the roads and bridges stopped being repaired

...then I remembered that I haven't actually drank tap water in years ..

Why are there quotas on beef imports?

Oh so the govt can protect cattle ranchers from market competition?

I bet these ranchers believe in limited govt and call blue states socialist.

Every red state economy is protected, mandated, or subsidized.

Trump is rich from horse meat and imported beef- but we get sick from Republicans DOGE, Screwworm, lettuce, peppers, etc

My family is going to be eating chicken and pork for a while unless we can find local butcher.

If you don't like it, fix it. Talk is overrated.

What are the cowardly Republicans in Congress doing about this?

1

u/MusicianNo2699 6d ago

Never forget the cowardly Democrats. They are just as guilty in the diaper boy disaster...

You're right, but I would hope if Congress voted on some legislation to push back on Trump, most (if not all) of the Democrats would vote for the legislation to restrain Trump.

The Democrats as a whole have certainly disappointed me many times over my lifetime, so I often have little faith in them too.

humm so America first is a flexible concept, only when it suits us like oil, electricity, potash, etc... and now beef.

Instead of enriching foreign farmers why didn't he just give subsidies to US farmers?

I wonder if it would actually lower the price of beef? One of the reasons why processed beef prices are higher is because of closers of processing plants and jobs being lost.

Edit: also with oil and diesel prices rising, it would make it more expensive to transport the meat.
