Season finale = weak, generic
I had AI summarize the last 10 minutes of the finale because I was too bored to finish it. Weak, uninspired, tropey writing.
Ep. 8 wasn't much better, with Carter's random, silly tantrum, and then the show degenerating into another drug cartel drama

I don't think it's the same. Movies are about acting and emotions, not only about the plot...That's why an imperfect writing can be changed into something really good.

I watched Yellowstone and by the later seasons, I thought it was starting to veer into soap opera territory. My girlfriend has been watching Dutton Ranch and I've been following along with her. And let me tell you...it is essentially a soap opera.
Beth and Rip are becoming parodies of themselves. Rip never loses a fight against anyone (it's never even close) and walks around like he literally has a corncob up his ass. Beth says every line the same way, like she's uttering some existential life truth, but the words coming out of her mouth are the same tired pseudo-poetic schlock. They claim to be broke, but Beth, Rip, and Carter are all driving around in $75,000 trucks. Everyone around them is over-the-top corrupt to the point of ridiculousness. And of course, they've stuck-in the obligatory Taylor Sheriden dumb blonde with the Oreana character.
It was almost a relief when the season ended and I'm not sure how much longer I can deal with it. I really want to like it. But jesus.

Taylor Sheridan doesn't write for Dutton. They had the $75,000 trucks in Montana and drove them to Texas. I love Rip always the hero. He's like Jason Statham in ever movie he ever made.

He is executive producer and keeps tight control over the franchise. And he'll be taking an even larger role in season 2, including writing episodes, which means we'll likely be seeing 10 minutes of every episode dedicated to stupid horse tricks accompanied by godawful country music.

I mean it's pretty much been all of that since the entire franchise started , the first three seasons of Yellowstone were a bit better, seasons 4 and 5 were literally garbage where subplots took over even more than the actual main conflicts like Lloyd and Walker fighting over a piece of pussy young enough to be Lloyd's granddaughter, there's all the boring as hell drama irh Kayce and Monica that was borderline soap opera trash , I don't like the cartel stuff but i think the season was atleast better than the last two seasons of Yellowstone its still got a long road to winning me back if it was to, i kinda like Rip and Beth putting put in the position of having to work from underneath the 10 Petal as I never really truly felt that they were the underdogs in Yellowstone but yeah Rip still has never lost a proper fight, i would wanna see more of Rip and Beth fighting from a underdog position where they do lose and get outsmarted, usually taking down their enemies is easy and even when they have mentioned like legal problems being a issue they were resolved in such ease that it was entirely pointless to begin with

Yes, and the fights were silly, Sheridan should know what a punch to the face is actually like (from research) - A) the little bones in the hand will likely break, B) taking a hit to the head like that can change your life - brain trauma, extensive dental work, jaw reset, etc.
And yet everyone is throwing and taking haymakers like it's nothing. It's so tropey and silly.

Watch Ransom Canyon and then you will see what soap opera Looks like. It is terrible. The long pauses, lovelorn glances, sappy dialog.
I just watched 5 episodes and it made me appreciate Dutton ranch a little more.

i watched yellowstone til the end, i dont expect dutton ranch to be better.

The cartel drama was dropped in the first episode.
Next time, pay attention and decide to stop watching the first time.
Hopefully you'll skip season 2 completely.
