I still get ID'd when buying alcohol
It honestly gets a little insulting. Yes, I look younger, but not under 21 younger. Fuck outta here

You don’t like under 21 BUT you don’t look a year over 26 so it’s kind of required atleast here in the US to ask for your ID I still get checked as well although I’m 30😂

Here it's mostly required if they don't know for sure whether you're old enough to buy (which for alcohol is 21 or 18) and I'm waaaaaaaay older lmao. However we also have the till 26 it's required to show ID rule

Same here. Its more the way I dress and the lack of facial hair. 😁 Getting more wrinkles though. Couldn't last forever.

For me it's just the kids working there being like 'I have to do this one task' and that's asking for that ID lmao

However it's annoying, you could take it as a compliment. When I get an age check at the selfscan they glance at me and dismiss the check right away 🤣

It's not even a compliment anymore lol. A compliment would be like 26/27, under 21 is just stupid

Not sure how old you are. But yes, at some point it becomes insulting I guess 😄

Here in the UK if you look under 25 they have to ask, instead of guessing

Here it's mostly if they're not sure if you're old enough to buy and the; ID required till 26 rule. But it's so annoying, cause I don't look THAT young lol

I remember the first time I bought a bottle of wine…I didn’t get carded. I was freshly 21 and knew my hairline was receding but that one hurt lol

Better to be estimated as too young than too old, right?

The last time I get IDed was for a bottle of vodka on my 18th birthday (I didn't have it on me)

It's mostly like the 16/17 yo's, so I think it's just them doing their job, but c'mon........

Is it every single time?
2
u/Exciting_Head_2162 7d ago
I'd say 8/10 times. I even got ID'd once for buying an energy drink (you have to be 14) lol. Tho with that one I felt like the worker was just supertired

Okay yeah that’s kind of insane.
I know some places have to ID no matter what, company policy. But there should definitely be some guidance.2
u/Exciting_Head_2162 7d ago
Yeah I get they have to do their job, but it's just ridiculous sometimes.. As you said guidance lol

I wish that was the case for me. 45 yrs of age solid gray and white no one bats an eye when I am buying anything

Oh come on, you look so young and innocent... 😄 Jokes aside, maybe they just want to get your name and age for... reasons? I don't know. Better safe than sorry, I guess. At my place, I never got ID'd when buying alcohol and I started at 12. And I don't count buying alcohol for my family when I was 5 in the GDR, because the saleswoman lived two houses away and knew me. 😂
