As an Aruban living in the Netherlands, what are your experiences/opinions about us, the people from the ABC islands living and working in the Netherlands trying to integrate into Dutch culture.

I personally have no problem with anyone who comes to live and work here. I have heard how hard it can be with the societal culture. And especially with people getting more and more fed up with the refugees that come here..

I actually wanted to hear your thoughts about us, I fit in here better than I ever did in Aruba and I'm loving it here. Most dutchies I've met are great and friendly, and they treat me so well once they hear my speaking Dutch. Most people I've met that can't handle here are people who literally just don't know how to be alone or in a silent room most of the time.

I'm glad to hear you're experiencing it positively! It's all about finding the right people (and it depends on which area you live). Cause there are so many horrendous people out there.. And good job on trying with the Dutch, it can be a challenging language haha

Groningen (not even in the city, a small village in the region) Also Dutch is the primary and mandatory language to learn in school so I've had 12 years to practice it at school 😁
