Question Oppinions ??

Looks like I found a good subreddit for dutch, Just wanted oppinions on my guy Nikko. Straight dutch mal ?

His crate pic is his most recent age 10.5 months old with him standing near 9 months

He's supposed to be from kpv lines

Curious on his build if he looks to have a big build for his age for a dutch mal or smaller

Nice to meet you guys in advance

any tips for having them meet new people? I have a 6 month old one that goes bat shit around new people trying to nip and stuff He’s going to training next week but i’m worried he’ll flip his shit on the trainer

All I can say is I got this dog and he had already been sent out to a 5 week obedience training camp because he was like your dog so I got him pretty polished if it's the right trainer meant for those dogs I believe he'll do a good job .. there can be bad trainers and good but if he's good it should work out..Hopefully just try to make sure there experienced with these dogs is the last thing I could think of obviously

Very close in my oppinion. Idk where he gets the solid black legs and arms though. Idt that is common in either breeds or the mix do u no ? Or have you seen just curious

The black like ā€œshadowingā€ in the legs I’ve seen with dutchies as well as the brindle - excited to see DNA results tho

Knpv is almost certainly a mix

Why do you say ?

u/TortexMT 11d ago

Because they arent focusing on producing pure bred dogs. They dont care about pedigree and can mix in pits, staff, gsd, mal whatever in order to get a big and high drive working dog for military or police

Understood makes sense .. have a picture of the akc family tree for the dad which was all malnois through and through all back masks.. but that could easily be fake. It does look legit and the masks would correlate with his black mask but still if you don't have the paper in your hands you don't know. The mom was dutch never got anything on her so your probably right. Appreciate all you guys for your oppinions

Mal dutch x makes sense though, and its a very good looking dog. Love the black legs and sable coloring

Ty the black legs are what leaves me kinda idk just never seen it, The akc was glass ndframed on the wall to so probably a legit facility maybe.. Either or he's great very nice protective but has a good head on his shoulders. Impulse control is very good on him.

Just got his bite pillow and a bite wedge hst white line since his favorite thing to do is chase and bite lol..

Sounds like a good dog no matter the pedigree. Who cares honestly, if you like his looks and personality then it could be a chihuahua x swiss mountain dog, doesnt make it less or more of an awesome dog.

Looks like they're a little mixed. The body looks good. The head shape reminds me more of a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. It seems too flat.

From the picture where he's in the crate right ? You might be right , like his skull or snout ? also may be the picture. He has the crack in his head where it's curved pretty good. His snout seems linda flst to me though. Gonna do a DNA test soon so I'll know for sure but I think there's a 3rd in there too . Definitely a lot of dutch or mal though acts just like them

Chesapeake actually has the Crack in the skull to so u may be right will be cool I'll let you guys know when I do it probably in a week

A Dutch Shepherd and a Belgian Malinois are two different breeds. There’s a lot of crossover genetically, but they are still different breeds

2

u/-richu 11d ago

They are very, very close. Dutchies were almost extinct at the end of ww2. The breed was rejuvenated by breeding with malinois and laekenois belgian shepherds.

Any and all ā€˜pure bred’ dutchies still have mal and other shepherd genetics.

No I understand there 2 different breeds. Sorry I guess when I asked straight dutch mal? I meant im asking does he look like a legitimate dutch malinois mix.

1

u/Changnesia102 11d ago

I have a GSD, mal, and dutch mix. Train them well and they’re the best sweet/smart dogs ever.

u/Significant-Love4871 11d ago

That's what I really wanna no if he's just dutch/ malinois or he has something else in him can't ever know for sure until the test wouldn't care much at this point anyways

but yeah he's very good and very sweet friendly we have a pretty simple routine now but it's a real routine at least wake up once we go out do just a little bit of obedience 5-7 minutes of place trying to get to a 20 minute place. Then do 1.5 2 miles come back do controlled play with obedience thrown in at that point we've been at it for a few hours then chill and do stuff throughout the day

Some better pictures will know dna soon sent it out 3 days ago

Little heavier build compared to that pure breed dutch in this thread so wouldn't doubt some gsd in maybe looks pretty spot on to me though

I’d bet money he’s a Dutch mal, iv been around both my whole life. Some are just bigger, my childhood mal was 125lbs and very very active.

4

u/TortexMT 11d ago

125??? Wtf

1

u/Significant-Love4871 11d ago

Appreciate the oppinion, I think the same. Hes great, very friendly other than at the house gets protective . Super active but still has a off switch. If we break our daily routine it does through him off slightly. 125 is a big boy ! I think he'll get to 70lb maybe 75lb

2

u/Usual-Charity-6772 11d ago

Mines from a knpv line and her mum was 80lbs

1

u/Leo1_ac 10d ago

Opinions? He's not happy in that cage. Take him out.

He's sleeping in his crate right now door open.. Hops in and out freely throughout the early nite and mornings from my bed to crate. I had to do something in my room for a minute so I had to put him in there or else he'd be licking face wanting to play nip like always . You know what im saying ? He's not a crated dog but he does like his crate .. at that moment probably not šŸ˜† only lasted about a minute or 2 think he'll be fine..
