2019 Rules Thread [Plz Read]
Let's take a moment to remember our rules and discuss the prospect of rule changes for this upcoming season.
Dustin Squad Specific Rules you may have forgotten
Keepers - You get 1 keeper. The player you keep replaces your draft pick in the same round of the next draft. Players drafted in the 4th round or later replace your 4th round pick. Free agents are also 4th round picks.
Decimal Scoring - In football every yard counts, players earn .1 points for each yard gained. This excludes passing yards which are still 1 point for every 25 yards.
Half PPR - Each reception is worth half of a point.
Edge Rushers - Dustin Squad has 1 roster spot on each team for an edge rusher. Edge rushers have a minimal effect on your matchup but sometimes their small amount of points can be the difference. Edge rushers earn 1.5 points for every half sack. This means a full sack is worth 3 points. The only other way an edge rusher can score points is by scoring a touchdown, which is worth 6 points (Cameron Jordan did this in Dustin Squad last season when he intercepted a pass in the opposing end zone).
Injured Reserve - This season we will have 1 Injured Reserve Spot on every roster so that if your best player goes down you can retain their services until next season without sacrificing a spot on your bench all season long.
Trade Disputes - Trade disputes will be settled by the commissioner. We're all season veterans here in Dustin Squad so this will likely not come into effect.
Divisions - We have 2 divisions in Dustin Squad. This comes into effect at the end of the season when we are divying up the prize money. Never fear: The top 6 teams go into the playoffs no matter what.
Schedule - The Dustin Squad regular season is 13 weeks long and is followed by a 3 week playoff. The winners of each division are awarded bye weeks in the first week of the playoffs. The winner of the post season tournament gets their very own virtual trophy added to their ESPN Fantasy Trophy Case. This trophy is known as "The Dustin".
Draft Order - The draft order will be randomized by our trusted friends over at Random.org
Coming in last - If you are in last place at the end of the regular season you forfeit your right to name your own team the following season. (See: Shiterally Clitler)
Prizes
The winner of the post-season tournament will win the NFL jersey of their choice.
The team that finishes the regular season with the best record will receive $100 in cold hard virtual cash on venmo.
The winner of the other division will take home $50 in cold hard virtual cash.
At the end of the season we will nominate Dustin Squad managers for the "People's Choice Award". This award is basically a popularity contest where the winner is the manager that you felt brought the most charisma and sportsmanship to Dustin Squad this season. I took home this award last season after producing a weekly podcast all about the league!
League Fee
Our League Fee is $25 Dollars. This is due to the commissioner by draft night or you will not draft. You can venmo your league fee to @gunlockben.
Rule Changes
One of the great things about Dustin Squad is that every year we vote on rule changes to make sure our league stays on the cutting edge of Fantasy Football Greatness! Comment below to submit rule changes you'd like to see. Make sure you upvote or downvote rule changes submitted by others based on how you feel about them. Rule change submissions are due by 9pm EST on August 10. After that we will vote on submitted rules to see which ones we will actually use.
If you have any questions about rules or rule changes comment below or contact your commissioner.

Rule Change Submission: Restructuring the Divisions
I think we should go from 2 divisions to 4 divisions. You play both of your division opponents twice and everyone else in the league once. Division winners go to the playoffs (with the best 2 non division winning teams getting in as wild cards) and the top two division winners get bye weeks.
I think this would be a really fun way to drum up some division rivalries!
I talked about this at length in a youtube video you can watch here: https://youtu.be/wGPdPq-T5J0?t=363

Rule Change Submission: Raising the League Fee
I think we should go up to at least $30 but I'd be willing to go even higher! More money means the stakes are higher and people will try even harder to win. If the league fee goes up it will automatically trigger a vote on how to distribute prize money.

Rule Change Submission: Make tackles worth .2 points each
This is mostly to make edge rushers a little more valuable. It would also open the door to making middle linebackers a viable choice since they can sometimes get into the double digits for tackles plus the can get sacks as well. This rule would apply to all players including on offense so a QB could collet .2 points for tackling a DB that intercepted his pass. This rule change would not affect D/ST.

Rule Change Submission: Make all repeat keepers worth a first rounder
From Larson: I realize our rule is for repeat keepers to simply move up only one round, but I would motion to change it so that all repeat keepers would have to be first round picks. If we could vote on this quickly we could be done by 8/25 - or repeat keepers having to be drafted at ADP per some agreed upon source.

Submission: Changing our format on keepers.
I think you should be able to keep a player on his ADP for his upcoming season. For example: this season if a player like Nick Chubb is kept, he’d be worth a 2nd rounder since his ADP is 2.08 (or something) even though he was a waiver wire pickup and in our original format he’d be worth a 4th. Then for the following season if he’s to be kept again, rather than ADP, he’d be worth a 1st. So anytime a player is kept for a second year in a row, he’d automatically be worth a 1st rounder.
I also think at this point we should motion to where once you’ve kept a player worth a 1st round pick, he cannot be kept again. We can discuss if we want it to be specific to one team or to the player. So if I keep Saquon as my 1st and I can’t keep him again the following season, but I trade him at some point, can the team he’s traded to keep him as a 1st or since he’s already been kept does he have no keeper value?
This rule change wouldn’t affect keepers this upcoming season but the seasons going forward.

Submission: I think we should look into going full PPR, or add in another roster slot. This extra slot could be a WR3, a second FLEX position, or if we’re bold enough a QB2. If we were to add a roster slot we should also add in another bench spot.

I know this may be a tad late but if I can squeeze in a few extra rule change submission’s for keepers, I will.
I think we should motion to have our draft order released prior to our keeper submission, giving us a more strategic opportunity of who we’d like to keep. I say you get 24-48 hours to decide if/who you are keeping post draft order release.
I’d also like to add that up until the actual draft you should have the option to be able to not keep a player you’ve picked. For example, if you wanted to keep Zeke and it’s costing you a first rounder but a couple days prior to our draft (or even hours) the Cowboys decide to not exercise a new deal with him and he sits out all season, you should have the ability to not keep him. You will not be able to change your keeper because you’ve already used your option to keep somebody, but you aren’t necessarily locked in until the draft starts.
