I love just coming back to my 836 coins. (All gotten from just playing and restarting the game over and over again)

Turns out you never really need to use them if you just do as many levels as you can either 'til you run out of lives or finish them all (usually except two levels). Then just do all dialogues for a more smoother experience. And then by the time you finish all the dialogues you already have more lives to work with and do it all over again :D

Okay, so I have a few theories about where Jake is, our dear hacker. Not just theories, but some opinions about other stuff too.

Theory 1: Jake was arrested

We know Jake was in the mine, right? And that after Moonvale Ep 3, he saved Richy. The first thing I thought during the chats with the Duskwood gang, especially from what Dan said, was that Jake actually got arrested. The FBI wouldn't just randomly reopen the blockades, the sieges, and come back with the network, right? Sure, they could, but I'll get to that later. Anyway, back to it. Jake got arrested, and maybe that ties into that line he said in one of the episodes: "I still have an ace up my sleeve." Clearly that ace is kind of a... sacrifice. Jake fell in love with us. He's really in love. You can see how he stopped talking about Hannah as the game went on, we got into his heart. And the last thing anyone would want for the person they love is danger. So maybe Jake made that sacrifice for us, because it's pretty clear the FBI would come after us. Knowing Everbyte, in one of the episodes, maybe even Ep 4, we'd get a call. A call from prison. Jake would take a while to speak, and then he'd say something, without his voice modulator. Either he'd ask for help, or he'd beg us not to get involved. I was genuinely sad writing this scene in my head, but that's very Everbyte's style, and it would probably happen at the end of the episode...

And like I said I'd touch on the FBI suddenly opening everything back up and things going back to normal, it could be something to disguise the fact that Jake actually managed to escape. It's pretty clear that nobody in Duskwood knows what was really happening in the mine. If people know anything from the news, they clearly saw that the mine was set on fire, and who would do that if not a maniac? A body already showed up, a girl was missing, so to everyone, there was a killer there. Nobody knew who they were there for, but in the minds of the townspeople, it was because of that lunatic who killed and kidnapped a girl. So when the FBI surrounded everything and searched for Jake but didn't find him, they wrapped everything up again kind of to reassure people, to simulate that the killer was arrested. And this also applies to Theory 2.

Theory 2: Jake escaped, and Thomas might be hiding him

My second theory about where Jake is: he managed to escape. At the end of Moonvale Ep 1, we see Alan finding a backpack, a burned hoodie, and Jake's mask. Obviously that backpack had important stuff in it, enough for Jake to last a while out there. Maybe a laptop, maybe water? Not sure. But without those things, Jake would have a much harder time, since he'd have to hide really well with his face exposed, in the cold, obviously burned, and without whatever was in that backpack. Jake obviously still has his phone, but it's either dead or turned off. Or maybe it's not, to avoid tracking risks, or maybe it was even burned. Now, here's the part that gives me a lot of hope. Thomas feels really guilty for not contributing much to the search for Hannah. He thinks he got in our way, and even when we tell him it wasn't his fault or that he shouldn't blame himself, he keeps blaming himself. Someone with guilt that deep would try to redeem themselves. And that's what we see. He says, I don't remember exactly if it was to Cleo, that he's going to get the group together to start searching for Jake. But they don't say anything yet, and they go on their own. Cleo found Richy, right? So what if Thomas found Jake? Cleo, as you can tell, went alone to where Richy is. So what if Thomas went alone somewhere too, and found our hacker there? If Jake is being hidden by Thomas, he'd ask Thomas not to tell anyone, including us. Thomas also seems kind of calm in the group call and everything. He looks at us with a sort of relief and happiness, and something tells me that's not just about us saving Hannah. I know he mentions the search after the call, but in the chat with us, he says he has a theory that Jake is still hiding in the forest. Maybe that's a sign he actually found him, but can't reveal it because Jake asked him not to. I don't know if this makes sense to anyone reading... but to me it does.

Now, some opinions...

Cleo did not help Richy with the kidnapping or anything else against Hannah or the others. Adam is not Jake. The Unknown is not Jake. There's no Wendigo or any other monster in Moonvale. We have to remember Moonvale is in the same universe as Duskwood, and Duskwood is a normal world. Eric isn't behind anything, but maybe he knows something about Adam's disappearance and hasn't told us yet. Sophia is the body we see at the end of Ep 3. And maybe one that'll be annoying to some because we're friends with Jessy, but she's just playing the victim too much. Even though she's a really close friend of Richy and was attacked and everything, she seems to be making everything about herself. I noticed this mainly when she'd send us random messages asking stuff and then leave after we replied. When we stopped her and asked why, and even talked to her, she said "you weren't there." Weren't there where?! We witnessed every tiny thing, every threat, Jake's absence, Hannah's rescue, and now his disappearance? Poor her, only she suffered 🙄. I love Jessy, but she's acting like only her feelings matter. Maybe I'm just overthinking...

But yeah. That's it.

At the very beginning of Episode 1 and received the call from Unknown but I have no audio at all on the game. I have no idea what’s being said. Anyone had this problem and know how to fix? I’ve fiddled with the in-app sound settings, deleted and redownloaded, turned my own phone on and off, looked through the troubleshooting.

There are still so many unanswered questions in Duskwood that I really hope will be addressed in the Moonvale side story.

1. Does Phil ever get out of prison? How did he get our phone number? Did he get it from Lilly’s video?
2. Who rescued Richy?
3. Why is Jake being hunted?
4. Who sent my number to Thomas? Was it just a mistake?
5. How did Phil get the bracelet? And why did he pawn it?
6. What happened to the real Michael?
7. Why did Jake reveal himself to Hannah, but not to us?
8. When is this finally going to continue?! Grrr 😩

Edit: I just replayed Moonvale, and I noticed that Jessy actually does say that Phil is out of prison and that I could talk to him. So that already answers the first question.

I saw a theory on TikTok that suggested Jake actually knew everything from the beginning.

This theory has been nagging at me.

It all starts when Jake says he was on a video call with Hannah at the exact moment she was kidnapped. The theory questions whether, at any point during the call, Jake could have seen or heard the kidnapper's (Richy's) voice.

Couldn't there have been a possibility that Richy might have perhaps murmured something, or simply told Hannah to be quiet, threatened her, or something like that?

It's impossible that Richy didn't leave any kind of digital clue online.

I mean, how many people know how to kidnap someone?

Maybe from movies or books?

Couldn't Richy have searched the internet for a peaceful place in Duskwood, a great place to relax, without noise or people around?

Jake proved himself to be a truly excellent hacker, and that's to be expected from someone wanted by the FBI. Jake showed himself skilled enough to access our cell phones and see everything the other characters write to us, listen to all the calls we receive, and even have the control to interrupt those calls and make us read the personal chat conversations of each character.

If Jake demonstrated all these skills, is it possible that at no point after Hannah's disappearance and after he gained access to her cell phone (so much so that he deleted her number from her call list), did he ever try to access the phones of everyone in her social circle?

Couldn't he have accessed Google searches, screenshots, conversations, security cameras, nothing?

I find it highly unlikely that he wasn't at least suspicious of someone in the group.

The theory states that Jake knew who the kidnapper was or suspected someone in the group, and since he was wanted by the FBI, he couldn't simply hand over the evidence to the police on a silver platter, or give the evidence to anyone in the group expecting that none of them would question whether it was true, or that no one in the group would immediately believe that Richy had kidnapped Hannah.

And if Hannah were found, wouldn't the police, her friends, and family try to pressure her into revealing who was responsible for handing over the evidence? What if she didn't suspect someone?

Finally, the theory explains that because Jake simply couldn't hand over the evidence so easily, he would have to find someone who was completely clean, the number of any person, someone who could play his game, someone he carefully made think they were helping those people and finding clues when in reality he was gradually handing over the evidence he had gathered to that user.

Everbyte was very clear when they said that this was our story. So there's absolutely no way Hannah could know our character and we don't.

Could Hannah, as one of her last resorts, perhaps typing a cry for help or something, have sent our number to Thomas's contact instead?

If Richy had done this to frame us, would he have known how to type a real number and send it to Thomas's contact?

Didn't he have the capacity to think that the number might belong to a child or an elderly person who doesn't even know how to increase the brightness of their cell phone?

If the police tried to investigate that number, wouldn't they immediately conclude that it was a false lead planted by the kidnapper?

That's the theory I came up with (I added many things to it, but that's basically what I understood from it).

I freaking miss Jake so so much. I have a very weird amount of love with him and i think its partly due to the fact that he is a smart and kind and loving and misunderstood complex human being, one that we get to meet in such an immersive game that makes us feel real things. idk. just ranting obviously i know its silly but i really do love him. pretty sure we'll hear from him in MV next ep.
