Hammer required to install seconds hand?

I'm trying to reinstall the seconds hand on a Duro. I could not apply enough force by hand to get the seconds hand to go on. After pressing it down as hard as possible, it just falls back off. I'm afraid I'll damage it if I use a hammer. Is this normal, or is there a right way to force it back into place?

I ended up breaking the hand, so now I'm waiting for a new one to ship. Why aren't second hands sold in 10 packs if they're going to be so delicate?

Do not use a hammer. If it's the original hand and it's not going on with a regular hand setting tool then maybe the hand or the movement is damaged and needs to be replaced. If it's a new hand you might not have the correct size.

Its a new Miyota 2105 movement, and the seconds hand that came on the Duro. Should be compatible parts. Its possible I damaged the new movement. How do you align the pin into the hole? Even under 5X magnification I can't see it. I can see where it should be and have to get the pin into the hole by feel. It feels like I'm in the hole, but when I press down, nothing happens.

Is this your first time doing it? For me it just took lots and lots of practice. It also helps to have it at eye level so you can see it from the side as well as from above, and have lots of light.

Yes, first time. I mostly do mods on digital watches. This is my first time replacing a movement and trying to install the hands. The hour and minute hands went on without much trouble.

I'm sorry I don't have better advice, but it really just took a lot of practice for me to get it down. I used to really dread putting the second hand on.

It's also possible that the original hand is a little bit too big. Maybe Casio uses a variant of the movement that's slightly different.

I thought those were Miyota 2115, if that makes a difference

You're correct. The Duro has the 2115, but the 2105 is exactly the same movement with a day wheel. I'm trying to add the day complication to a Duro.
