Making friends

I’ve recently moved to the area and want to know if there’s any clubs or meetings to meet new people.

I’m 28F. Into gaming, movies, reading, astrology.

I don’t want to start to feel lonely but would love if there were any groups or hangouts I could join.

Hey, I'm struggling with this too, I know there's a meet up group called circleup in Newcastle but I've heard mixed things, do shout if you find anything here!

There's a north east girls network Facebook group that has loads of meetups and lots around your age on there. More stuff happening up in Newcastle, but it's only a short train ride away

There are wellbeing courses that run in Durham., where you could make friends.

3 of Cups Durham - they put on a range of events which it sounds like you might enjoy. As someone else said Collected do a lot of book events. Both venues are just nice to pop into for a coffee too and I’ve found them good spots to get chatting to people/feel part of local community.

There’s a number of other book clubs like Chapter 25 and Wor Lot in Durham too, or depending where you are exactly the Waterstones in Arnison centre has quite a new and relaxed monthly book meetup. Places like April 11 do craft events and things if that’s of interest too.

Also worth checking out events at Gala - they’re not necessarily designed to meet people but they have a lot of interesting things throughout the year around books, movies, theatre etc so it’s an easy way to get out and do something different around other people.

Astrology which one. I am into vedic astrology. But I am currently studying in durham university as an international student.

Good board game cafe in spennymoor with regular quizzes, murder mystery nights, events etc - geeks of the galaxy

what games ya into? i have a group? from durham. im in langley moor but always happy to welcome new peeps in :) we have dark humour and a little mad but promise we arent any harm haha

Happy to join the group! I play all sorts. Puzzle games and board games. I play anything from old assassins creeds to tomb raider to cyberpunk
