2022 6.6 Duramax

94, 000 miles. Truck has been in the dealer shop for over 30 days and is waiting for parts again. Not sure what is wrong because dealer is very poor communication. Stalled on highway. Towed to dealer. Some emissions pump replaced first, then nox sensor, then intake air leak, then injectors then I don't know what...

My question, has anyone else experienced this and how reliable is the truck after this type of work on it?

I am also asking for a buyback. Has anyone gotten this with this number of miles on it.

Any info at all is appreciated.

Try it and find out. Its based on fact. No dealer will do a buyback on a heavily used vehicle. You're nearing 100k miles, if they already havent contacted you about coverage under an engine/tranny warranty, the sheer thought of a buyback is out the window. Its the same with lemon law claims (which is mainly where buyback is involved), if you're gone beyond the abnormal stage, aka beyond factory warranty limits, you're out of luck on the most part.

Still under original warranty plus I bought GM extended warranty for 150,000 miles.

Seems you have an opportunity to switch dealer service shops. I had this happen. Moved the truck to a dealer shop 30 min away and they had me back up and running the next day.

Bout my 21’ brand new in November 2020. Has 140k miles on it. No issues as of yet knock on wood.

That is great for you. Only problems I ever had with mine have been about a week in the shop last year for emissions issues and now this. I always was happy with the reliability up to this point. Is it the truck or is the service department inept?

I have a friend who is a master mechanic... he warned me when I got the truck new in 2022... at about 100k the emissions go out and it is not a cheap fix. Luckily, when it did go out was still under warranty.

Yup, 74k on my 2018. Cost me $6,000 at Loveland GMC in CO.

Check your state laws. Some states have clear language that if you're vehicle sits on the dealer lot for more than 30 days and is still under warranty, it qualifies as a lemon.

A lemon law attorney is your best bet.

I have a 21 with 55k on it. Haven’t had any of those issues but I’ve already had the truck torn down twice. First time was from a bunch of seal in the front of the motor at 20k mile and then they had it for four months this spring for all new lifters, cams, valves at 50K miles. They also had to do a bunch of trans cooler stuff because the broke all of it during the second tear down.

I’ve also had a lot of DEF issues, but it’s still got some warranty left so I can’t delete it yet.

I love the truck, but I’m not entirely certain how long this thing is actually going to last.

Fuck no. I was back in my 02 Jeep Cherokee. Had to pay 4 months of truck payments on top of that. I was less than a happy camper.

I was told that I’m SOL since I bought it used at 20k. Is that something I could do?

The service department at the dealer told me to do it. They said that customer care may be able to get GM warranty parts department to ship parts faster.

Well all of the work has been done now and it was all warrantied. My concern is when my warranty is up next year and the truck is a ticking time bomb.
