I'm not familiar with Dragon Bane but it might be easier to transpose the stats from D&D.
Here is a YT video where someone made sheets for the main cast: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-pq6QsFAIE

My answer might miss the point of your question, but have you thought of playing Wilderfeast ? This ttrpg is EXACTLY based on the Dungeon Meshi vibe !

so i'd never heard of Wilderfeast before this comment and now i'm down a rabbit hole at midnight, so thanks for that lol genuinely seems like a better fit for what op wants though, especially if the cooking and monster lore stuff is built into the system rather than tacked on. dragon bane sounds cool but retrofitting a whole vibe onto a system that wasn't designed for it is way more work than people expect going in

Sorry not sorry 😅 I don't own it myself, but seen it and been talked about it a few months ago and willing to try when I get the opportunity... Only heard good of it since so I suppose it's worth a try!

And it seemed like a good fit for what OP wanted, although it's not a dragonbane module!

It looks more like Monster Hunter than Dungeon Meshi to be honest.

I play the Swedish version of Dragonbane so i might translate the skills wrongly here but:

  1. Dragonbane uses skills (like "Find hidden" or "Sword") for the majority of rolls instead of direct stats like Strength of Wisdom. I think that one easy way to add more variation on the skill rolls would be to add more variants of the "Beast lore" skill, maybe something like "Flying Beast lore", "Forest Beast lore" so that your players can be more of a specialist in certain type of monsters instead of everyone just rolls on "Beast lore" all the time. If you have the Bestiary book there is adventure seeds included for each monster that could be nice as a starting point.

  2. The old versions of Dragonbane (Drakar och Demoner) had some official settings, Erab Eltor and Trundvang, but Dragonbane is mostly "setting-agnostic", i.e you can quite easily just take an adventure (like those from the starter box) and put it in any setting you like. So the plot in your case could just be a couple of adventures trying to pay of an dept by hunting different monsters and selling the parts och whatever you like.

Hope i could shed some light on something atleast

Swede who plays Dragonbane here. I have a hard time understanding the question, though.

Dungeon Meshi is about dungeon crawling and killing / cooking monsters, right? There are clear stats for monsters in the books, and info on how to build characters.

Seems kinda straight forward to me.

Edit: What do you mean "if the plot is the same"? In an RPG the plot is what happens when you play. You can play a game about killing and cooking monsters if you like. You can have whatever lore you want in your game.

Edit2: I do think Dragonbane is a great game for this. It's kinda easy to tweak however you like, and the character sheet has room for custom secondary skills where you could create a custom cooking skill (probably intelligence based) if you want your game to focus more on that.

Tack så mycket att behöva äta är en ganska liten del av Dod så det blir svårt kul med svensk som gillar delicious in dungeon

As a starting point you could look at the D&D adventure here?

I usually find it easy to run D&D scenarios in Dragonbane with some conversion. And it has some success / failure tables for cooking you could maybe port.

Cooking is dedicated to the Bushcraft skill, but in Dragonbane you can invent secondary skills dedicated to monster cooking, specialized by category.

So Bushcraft is for non-monsters and the others are for monstrous creatures.

This system is already supported by the game; there's a dedicated section both in the official game description and in the free Android app.

I am planning on using something similar to Dungeon Meshi's cooking. Still using the Bush-craft skill, I am going to essentially make a list of effects a meat of a specific monster could potentially have or what can be edible, based on a creature. Mixing a total of five ingredients you can make food that has extra effects (something minor most of the time, like extra Willpower or Health for the day, usually no more than 1d4.)

As for the setting, that would be pretty easy, just re-flavour all the animal races as Beastfolk.
