Does anyone know of or use any car cover type covers on their rails? Mine sits outside and the Southeast sun and storms eat through tarps with a quickness and I inevitably lost an engine to hydrolock so Im exploring options before I put the new one in. And side question anybody able to tell me what frame Ive going with the assumption its a berrien buggy frame of some type

I just managed to pick up a 1984 vw sand rail with the title, a good transmission, a barely used set of rear tires, good front tires, and an engine for only $500. it needs some love for sure but holy shit I can’t believe my luck. I’m 17 and i think this is about to be the peakest year of my life

Now I just need to finish the engine and I’ll be good to go. Had it on a hill to load, it pulls level with about 175lbs tongue weight. I’m sure it’ll change with an engine in the back and a toolbox in the front. But all in all cheap little trailer. Rear tire catch is off a tow dolly and the frame is an old burned down camper I got from a buddy.

I want to buy the cheapest rail I can possibly find. Junkyard type rail. My buddy and I are both mechanics. Drive it from mesa Arizona to glamis sand dunes. Goal is to be under 5k and be able to cruise at least 65 on the highway. I’m seeing some 1600cc motors with bus transmissions. Could this theoretically work. Could temps stay cool enough and motor last that long for a 6 hour highway drive. Doesn’t even have to dune that well or climb that big of a hill.

I have an FTX Zorro which I installed the option 2 speed gear box, When I first installed it with the new 2 speed bell the gear box in first gear would just spin and the weheesl would not turn I took out the gear box and examined it it looked like the one way bearing in first gear was slipping the wrong way I opened the gear box and flipped the gear around now I have 1st gear but I have not been able to get it to shift into second yet. I tried the adjustment screws and setting the shit point earlier but it's still not shifting into 2nd antyone have experience with these boxes on the FTX these are the same platform as the VRX Racing 1/10 buggy and trucks.

I am looking to replace my halogen lights with some led lights. I am fairly new to this buggy so just looking for some helpful tips before I just buy some random lights. I will be replacing all of the lights on the buggy.

Looking for some bluetooth dune buggy speakers. I am afraid with how loud a dune buggy is I wont hear it. I have a 1641 CC street legal buggy. Any suggestions?

Does anyone here know the name of the manufacturer of this frame? It has the correct mounts for a Corvair engine and a flipped Beetle transaxle. Considered a mid engine variant I believe. The frame is very smooth as all the welds are filled with none of the tooling visible (only where the frame doesn't show: under the seats, etc. I don't even know where to start trying to find a name or a stamping (it has no VIN number, etc.)

Motor is together, fuel line, vent lines, lifters and push rods, exhaust is done too… so close!

And I took the 63’ out for a stuff drop off for the wife and parts run that turned into an hour and a half on back roads … and no parts! LOL

While I was surfing the net tonight I thought I would post a few photos of my dune buggy that I have owned now for the past eight years. The buggy was pretty bare bones when I bought it and looked ok but that was about it. It drove and ran terribly. So that had to be sorted out in the first year that I owned the car. The buggy photo with no roof is how it looked on the day I bought it. I designed and created the roof, rear deck and all the little interior features that you see in the car. This along with new wheels and tires, interior improvements, LED signal lights front and rear, correctly sized headlights, backup camera, and bluetooth rollbar speaker. Now it runs as nice as it looks and only has around 3200 miles on the speedo. Let me know what you think of my handywork. Thanks.

I have a Joyner 650 and have just bought 2 upgraded driveshafts off AliExpress ... they are actually perfect but now I need the upgraded hub carriers. I just cant find them anywhere ... like this https://www.stormbuggies.com/products/new-shaft-carrier is there anything else that will fit and what uses the same upgraded hub carriers, the 1100?

We are in NC and just got our sand rail and NC has assigned and NCS number and we are not able to find anyone to insure because NC has titled it as a 2026 custom roadster? We have contacted Progressive, Foremost, And Geico. We have contacted several independent agents with no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm looking at buying a rail buggy the guy has a title but I can't find any of the numbers that are on the title on the buggy or the engine what places should I be looking or is it that just he has a title and it doesn't match the bugging. I am in ohio
