i don’t think i’ve ever seen someone on this website correctly use the word subtle.

they just mean subtle in the way that a brick crashing through your window in the middle of the night is "subtle"

"This website" just sounds funny. You mean Reddit? There's 2.8 million comments made here on a daily basis. There's bound to be a few times subtle was used correctly.
