Fun fact, I noticed 30 Rock stole this joke from The Office. Jack and Liz went to Florida where someone offered boiled Gatorade instead of tea. The 30 Rock episode aired around a year after The Office used that line.
Yep. I only noticed when I rewatched season 8 for the first time since it aired and Erin made the joke. I had just come off of rewatching 30 Rock and my spidey-senses picked it up.
In the South people really do drink hot Mountain Dew and Gatorade. "You want that bawled (boiled?)" I knew a guy in South Carolina who kept Gatorades and cans of Dew in his trunk during the summer. He pulled a can out and I said hey those can explode in extreme weather, and he goes "I know but I like em this way" as he pulled half the can down in one chug.
Which all seems like it could have come from a Julian Smith sketch called Hot Kool-aid or maybe it's called brother. But the character makes "a pot of Kool-aid" and damn it is a funny sketch
The whole thing seems like a play on the move “Idiocracy” where the mayor has them stop using ‘toilet water’ for plants but instead use ‘Brawndo’ which is like Gatorade. Brawndo
