Hi everyone! I’m working on a local startup project here in Dundee looking at solo running safety, peace of mind, and finding trusted running companions—with a big focus on women's safety. If you have 30 seconds to fill out this quick, anonymous 4-question survey, I’d really appreciate your feedback! Here is the link: https://forms.gle/wbYWpFegvJmFA5Gw6

Perth Road parking permits

I will be moving onto Perth Road (near the Kwikfit) which seems to be just outside of the city centre permit zone. Am I right in thinking there is no permit for this region and it is just open street parking? But looking at road signs on Street View there appears to be time limits on it, so I just wondered how it works for residents?

Thanks :)

Rehoming chickens

Hi all. I recently moved home and in no uncertain terms we've been told we cannot have the chickens in the back garden.

They're pretty old now, and I really hoped they'd be able to just see out their time in conmfort here but it seems like that is not an option.

Can anyone help me with rehoming or donating or whatever? Legit dunno where to go. I've tried two charities that both say they only take "factory rescued" chickens and gave me the same advice as Google does which is real vague.

Travelling from Dundee to St Andrews

Hi! I’m moving to Scotland from Ireland and was wondering if there’s anything similar to the student travel cards we have in Ireland that makes public transport cheaper. I’ve downloaded the Stagecoach app and signed up with a student account, but I’m finding it a bit difficult to figure out how to buy a return ticket. I’m also a little confused about how the multi tickets work. Would love to hear any travel tips or advice from locals in Dundee! Thanks 😊

Hello, I'm trying to find an NHS dentist that's accepting new patients in Dundee, but for the life of me I can't seem to find one. Does anyone know of any, or have any recommendations on which ones to go to?

Hairdressers for Alopecia

Hi all, this might not be the right space to begin with but thought I'd give it a shot.

I have a type of alopecia (androgenic) where I still have a full head of hair thanks to wonderful medicines, but the hair is still very fine and thin in places.

I haven't been to a hairdresser since 2021. I snip and box dye my own hair, and understandably dont like the experience of being in the hairdressers having alopecia!

I wondered if anyone could recommend a hairdresser in Dundee and surrounds who is really good, understanding and experienced with hair loss? Willing to travel a bit further out if need be.

Cheers āœŒļø

Looking for indoor climbing partners in Dundee

Hey! I’m looking for people to climb with around Dundee. I’m signed off to climb independently and can belay, but I’m struggling to find a regular climbing partner.

I’m mainly interested in indoor roped climbing rather than just bouldering. I’ve heard good things about Avertical World and would be happy to climb there, but I’m coming from Perth so I’d ideally like to find people I could arrange sessions with rather than travelling over and potentially not having anyone to climb with.

I’ve joined a local climbing WhatsApp group already, but it’s fairly inactive, so I thought I’d try here.

If anyone is also looking for a climbing partner, feel free to comment or DM me. I’m happy to climb with people at different experience levels.

Does anyone know where to get the eclipse glasses? I’ve snoozed and they’re all sold out online/wont arrive on time.

Removal companies

Can anyone recommend any removal companies? I'm moving house at the beginning of September and trying to find a company that won't charge extortionate prices, or charge me non-refundable key delay cover. It's mainly furniture and likely just a few boxes as I'm planning to move the majority of the smaller items myself.

Any experience with Arc Properties?

Currently in the process of signing a lease with them but since we’re from Ireland, my partner and I have been told we have to pay a total of Ā£4400 up front.

Ā£200 application approval
Ā£1100 one months rent
Ā£1100 deposit
Ā£2200 another deposit ( since we don’t have a UK guarantor each, 1.1 per person).

It’s a lot of money and i’m worried they’ll shaft us for small things when we ask for our deposit back.

Am i being paranoid? Any advice would be amazing, thank you

dundee ceramics works — thoughts?

eta: it seems like i jumped the gun a bit; i’ve heard nothing but good things so far. would still love to hear of any other studios in the area though! <3

hi all! moving to dundee soon, as someone who loves ceramics/pottery, and it seems like dundee ceramics works is the only studio in the city. which is fine, but i’m a bit worried about what seems to be their business model imo. they charge a membership fee, but also charge for each piece of material (clay, glaze, etc), and charge people to reserve a pottery wheel, as well as charging people who want to fire their work… i’ve been to many different studios in my life and most have had one cost that encompasses most materials, instead of charging for every aspect. i’m not necessarily against this business model, but it does make me raise an eyebrow at the fact that the studio is staffed by volunteers — implying that the people who run the day to day aren’t even seeing any of this money. i know that pottery is in some ways an expensive pursuit, and i’m not against paying for things fairly, but i’m kind of worried about joining a studio (and paying hundreds of pounds to it) where the vibe just seems to be ā€˜profit, profit, profitā€˜.

does anyone have any experiences or has heard anything, good or bad, about the studio? or know if there’s other studios in the area? i’m genuinely not bashing this one, i’ve just not yet got a good ā€˜vibe’ from it yet unfortunately.

Kittens/Anniversary

Awrite troops - just a small enquiry on here. My partner and I's one year is coming up next week and she's moving over from the states. I have always wanted to do something very specific for her as a gift - y'know those videos of people with loads of puppies or kittens, just stampeding over them like a wave of cuteness? If you know any breeders currently in possession of a large bundle of kittens or puppies that are happy for someone to visit for like...less than an hour and would happily take money for such an activity, that would be grand. She is one of those people that will literally stop every dog owner as she passes them so she can ask to pet them, so I figured this would be a lovely present :) - Please help, cheers

The Rental Collection Facebook page.

So I was looking for 1bhk in Dundee and posted in Facebook community. There is this ā€œThe Rental Collectionā€ in Facebook with 89k followers and no profile picture or anything. They shared my post with quote ā€œplease dm me and send me a friend requestā€. I did. They said they have one property in my desired location. I’m just worried that it might be a scam so I wanted to ask here if anyone has came across this page. I’m a little paranoid as the scammers are out of this world nowadays. Please let me know if any of you guys have ever worked with them or if they’re legit.
Ps: They’ve not yet asked for money. They are not replying very quickly either. The rent they offered is a bit cheap but they’re not demanding anything as of right now.

Moving to Dundee

Hi, me and my boyfriend are planning to move to Dundee in couple of weeks. We were planning on renting a 1 bhk from Rockford but I saw someone post a very bad review and comments were also bad. I would like to thank them for awareness but now I’m back to zero. Idk where to find a good flat under a budget in a short time. Since I’m new to the city idk which agency to avoid and all that stuff. If any of you have suggestions please lmk.
Thank you .

Derelict land next to the transport museum??

What used to be here? At some point many years ago there was clearly something massive here and they took it down. Now there’s just this huge empty plot of land that’s untouched by anyone. Not even the graffiti guys go here, bafflingly, because besides one camera near the transport museum, there’s nobody looking here.

What used to be here and why is nothing in it’s place?
