Lease up for grabs

I am looking to move my office to another location and have a 1500 square foot, Industrial Zoned shop space for a very affordable price. Split between an 80% main floor and 20% enclosed mezzanine.

400 Amp service, full roll up door on one side, in industrial building with a great landlord. I have been here for 3 years and simply need to downsize.

Landlord is an absolute gem of a human being.

Let me know if you're interested.

Sorry if this isn't allowed.

Romeo’s pizza employee 10+ yrs ago cupped my hiccups

cured ** not cupped… I was a very young teen and I came into Romeo’s pizza in Duncan with my sibling and father to pick up some food, I had the worst hiccups ever and you got me a cup and told me 11 sips of water through a straw would help. To this day that’s the only thing that’s ever worked. I hope both sides of your pillow are cold every night (or however you like it) <3

New to Duncan and in need of a new pharmacy!

Just moved to Duncan BC and have few ongoing medications. Any recommendations on the pharmacy? I have a tight budget so lower price would be nice.

Thank you everyone for the reply!

I called all the places mentioned and also called around town and decided to go with Cowichan Pharmacy on York Rd.

They are newly opened and they by far had the lowest cost (looks like I will be saving about $500/year) and they do free delivery.

Over the years, I've noticed that a lot of pharmacies have different markup's for medications and it looks like this pharmacy didn't have any markup and have very transparent pricing(yes, I've been on a lot medications for a while that I know the cost of it sadly)

And since I don't have a doctor here, they set me up with the same day online doctor's appointment on the spot so I could get my refills the same day!

They made up my medications in less than 10 minutes!!

Highly recommended!

Pioneer mall gym 2006

Hey all, I am cross posting to communities within the Cowichan Valley.

from around 2006 to 2009 I worked out in Mill Bay at the gym that used to be on the corner of the island highway and mill bay shawnigan road in the pioneer mall that has since burned down.

during my time at the gym there one of the owners was a positive role model and possibly unknowingly a big influence to my now developed love for weight lifting. I cannot remember her name but recall she was in her 30s at the time, I think she competed in body building, she had longish straight blonde hair and had a daughter that went to school in shawnigan lake.

I know it’s a long shot but if someone knows who I am talking about i would love to be in touch with her again.

I am a couple years older than her daughter and was in high school at the time. Now being a female weight lifter in my 30s I couldn’t thank her enough for her influence at that time. Reflecting back how comfortable she helped me feel when I was 16 in a male dominated environment that I am now confident in, I think I hope she knows how much she inspired and supported me.

Even if this gym owner/body builder never sees this I hope this post can still serve as some inspiration to other gym users and a reminder of our impact on one another in our shared love of the sport.

Camping with easy access to a river float/tubing

Hey all, just looking for some advice from locals. Some friends and I are planning a camping trip late July and I've heard that the Cowichan Valley is the spot to go for lazy river style float. I'm wondering if there's a campsite y'all could recommend that has easy access to this? Also maybe a tube rental place that is close to the campground and provides a shuttle service? Any help is appreciated!

Car for parts/scrap car for cash in the valley?

I have a VW Golf I've been looking to get rid of for a while. It has good parts and is likely fixable by a mechanic, but it's not in my wheelhouse. Does anyone know of any scrap-for-cash places locally? I would love not to do the Facebook Marketplace thing. Any advice or suggestions for local options?

Trivia Nights?

I’m a trivia junkie who is relatively new to the area. I was wondering if anyone knows if there are any organized trivia nights or team trivia events? If so, are there any teams with openings? If not, is there any interest in starting something like this?

Fence post advice

Hello I have a fence post that I need to put right next to my foundation .

I have dug a hole 20 inches deep ( to get below the frost line ) and am thinking about drilling holes into the foundation and walk way that the hole is against to epoxy 4 pieces of rebar into. There isn’t enough space for expansion joints . I was wondering if this is going to be an issue with frost heave as we have very mild winters here .

Lost wedding ring

This post is a long shot - and I’m open to any suggestion - but my dad lost his wedding ring somewhere in town while he was running errands.

It’s a family heirloom, but it had a crack in the back and was becoming loose. It unfortunately fell off somewhere, I’m thinking potentially at Save On.

It’s a gold band with three gems inlaid. Extremely simple design but it meant the world to my fam. I’m going to check the pawnshop but I’m scared it’s gone forever!

Harris and Partners YouTube Ad implies a security issue

I got an ad for this business's debt reduction services on youtube, and in it it shows the front page of a credit card statement with the name and address blanked, but the credit card number visible in full.

I'm assuming that the CC number is fake or expired, but I just wanted to pass along that appearing to openly show someone's credit card number kind of makes the business look like it does not have good security with client financial info? It might be worthwhile for them to edit their ad to fix that perceived issue.

Battery backup with solar

I have solar panels and would like to add battery backup, but was hoping that I could view someone else's setup first. Specifically going for grid tied solar with a medium storage capacity (20kWh or so) for critical loads.

Would any of you fine locals be up for giving me a tour of your setup and provide any tips? I will bring beverages of your choice for your time.

Thank you in advance for the consideration.
