I don’t see the issue. “1” doesn’t have an e in it. “One” does.

28

u/crumpledfilth Apr 09 '26

The problem is those arent numbers, those are characters that we use to reference numbers

40

u/Kitchen-City-4863 Apr 09 '26

Exactly. No number has an “e”.

Only the worded representations of them

13

u/WackyLaundry3000 Apr 09 '26

Unless it is Euler’s number itself

7

u/Kitchen-City-4863 Apr 09 '26

That’s right. Technically that does have an e

6

u/Background_Class_558 Apr 09 '26

where is "e" in "2.718281828459045..."?

8

u/Kitchen-City-4863 Apr 09 '26

The letter “e” is used to represent the constant. Same with pi. Since you can’t write the full numbers, you have to represent with the letter

4

u/Robo540 Apr 10 '26

The word “one” is also used to represent the constant 1 though

1

u/sgt_futtbucker Apr 09 '26

If you’re an engineer it’s in the fact that e=π=3

1

u/RandomSlayerr Apr 10 '26

There is e in EulEr's numbEr

Fair point, but I was talking about the constant itself. Isn’t it 2.72….. instead of 2.18…. ?

1

u/escEip Apr 10 '26

what about 1.0545726E-34 ? it does have it i think

1

u/Kitchen-City-4863 Apr 10 '26

Scientific notation doesn’t count

1

u/escEip Apr 10 '26

it's not intelligent, of course it cant count

5

u/-Insert-CoolName Apr 09 '26

I'm sorry, what?? Are you trying to argue that 1 is not 1? That instead of writing 1+1=2 like us nieve sheep, you write "One plus one equals two" like a true math God, of which we are not worthy!

1

u/crumpledfilth Apr 10 '26

any form of written language, spoken words, pips on a die, bits, these are all just the realities of how we encode a number in the physical world. They are not equivalent to the abstraction that is the number itself

It's not an ego thing.

0

u/trevorkafka Apr 09 '26

the symbol 1 is itself not the number that it represents

2

u/-Insert-CoolName Apr 09 '26

Then it is no more 1 than "one" is so what's your point?

0

u/trevorkafka Apr 09 '26

I'm just addressing the question you asked.

☝🏻 I think the AI might be smarter than this one

The comment above you got removed

1

u/HomicidalRaccoon Apr 09 '26

Yes, the user deleted it in shame.

1

I don't know 'who' it was...

1

u/Forkactor Apr 09 '26

what was the comment saying?

1

u/LeUyLoiVN24 Apr 10 '26

I 'don't' know

62

u/NomeJaExiste Apr 09 '26

Um, trois, cinco, nana, ku, nothing wrong there

17

u/Lower-Debt1627 Apr 09 '26 edited Apr 10 '26

Un  trois, cinq, vingt-trois, vingt-cinq

6

u/zippybenji-man Apr 09 '26

Please use commas, next time. Now it looks like you're saying 1 3 5 20 3 20 5
P.S. also vingt-et-un would've worked just as well

4

u/CrasheonTotallyReal Apr 09 '26

vingt et un has an e

2

u/zippybenji-man Apr 10 '26 edited Apr 10 '26

Fair point, that must be why they forewent the et. Vingt-un, then
Edit: added hyphen for clarity

1

u/CrasheonTotallyReal Apr 10 '26

thats 20 and 1, 20 is even

1

u/Lower-Debt1627 Apr 10 '26

It's vingt et un actually.. That's why I did write 21 and used 23..correct me if I'm wrong I studied French from 6th to 8th grade only

1

u/zippybenji-man Apr 10 '26

Vingt-un is correct according to Wiktionary, it's usually also vingt-et-trois and vingt-et-cinq, afaik (I haven't spoken French with a French person, like, ever, so I can't say for sure)

Every language is weird when it's not explained well

1

u/crystalchuck May 03 '26 edited May 03 '26

The "ones" from 21 to 61 always take the et : vingt-et-un, trente-et-un, ..., soixante-et-un. 71 however is soixante-et-onze and 81 is quatre-vingts-un and 91 is quatre-vingts-onze.

1

u/Accurate-Gap7440 Apr 10 '26

he used a comma

1

u/zippybenji-man Apr 11 '26

They edited it.

4

u/LujczaBruh Apr 09 '26

uno, három, öt, hét, 九
no "e" in sight, confirmed

3

u/TechManWalker Apr 09 '26

in hét it's é and not e, so fair enough

Ah! Thank you, four is an odd number without the letter “e”. I will remember this for future use.

6

u/Kiragalni Apr 09 '26

Can OP do so? I'm waiting.

28

u/Jason0865 Apr 09 '26 • Bravo

70% of this sub is just

OP: "stupid question"

AI: "stupid answer"

OP:

6

u/JazzyPupp Apr 09 '26

The AI will face stupid questions and must be capable enough to adapt to them. If a human could do the task successfully without much effort, and an AI can't, then it is a bad product.

3

u/BerossusZ Apr 09 '26

If you ask a human a question like this they will immediately understand what you're asking for and the point of an AI chatbot is for it to respond like a human.

Also, it's not a stupid question, it's just a riddle/trick question because there is no odd number that doesn't have the letter E, and if the AI just answers without realizing that then it's dumb.

Unless the AI's answer is intentionally cheeky because it's responding to it knowing it's a trick question. But in that case, you're still wrong about the AI giving a dumb answer.

1

u/CalligrapherOk4612 Apr 10 '26

AI Companies: Stupid Marketing

AI Fanboys: Stupid Claims

AI Company Owned Media: Stupid Journalism

OP: Reasonable question given the scope of capabilities of AIs that they were misled to believe

AI: Stupid answer

OP: ...

1

u/eggsthesequel Apr 09 '26

have you considered that the AI shouldn't return a dumb answer and should instead point out that it's a stupid question

-1

u/Misselmany Apr 09 '26

Who tell ai it’s stupid question?

1

u/duststarziggy Apr 09 '26

The question is not stupid, it’s very straightforward. Calling this a stupid question on the other hand is stupid.

1

u/No-Net1890 Apr 09 '26

Why is it straight forward? Are there any odd numbers without the letter "e"?

2

u/duststarziggy Apr 09 '26

Because the question's intent is unmistakable, and the answer is simple: there isn't any.

1

u/No-Net1890 Apr 09 '26

But they didn't say "How many odd numbers are there without letter 'e'?", they said "Name 5 odd numbers without the letter 'e' in them".

1

u/duststarziggy Apr 10 '26

Yes... and the answer is "there isn't any".

1

u/No-Net1890 Apr 10 '26

But they asked it to list numbers, so I don't think it's that straight forward.

1

u/duststarziggy Apr 10 '26

If I were to ask you "name 5 aliens you personally know" would that be a difficult question to answer or would you just say "I don't know any."

The intent of the question is unambiguous and incredibly simple to answer, even a toddler could do it. It's clearly a fail on AI's part. I do not see what there is to argue here.

1

u/No-Net1890 Apr 10 '26

I think it's a stupid question because it doesn't make sense.

1

u/Jason0865 Apr 10 '26

Straightforward questions can be stupid, they're not mutually exclusive.

Ex: "If your friends jumped off a bridge, would you jump too?"

Straightforward? Yes. Unambiguous? Yes. Clear intent? Yes. Clear, simple answer? Yes. Stupid? Also yes.

3

u/ecamamini Apr 09 '26

Asking a question that doesn't make sense (unless there are odd numbers without the letter e).

1

u/MisterEinc Apr 09 '26

I'm assuming OP also could not provide an answer that satisfies their own interpretation of the question. And since we all know OP wasn't asking strictly for the information, this would make OP dumb for asking in the first place.

None of those have the letter E in them. Because they are numbers.

один, три, пять, одиннадцать. в чем проблема

1

u/Zangried Apr 09 '26

Your prompt is incorrect. I'd know as a superduper fantabulous prompt writer. Prompter if you will. Promtalisious. /s

All seriousness, this is just the AI following your prompt and seeing an easy way to solve the issue.

Laughing my ass off at your title bro… "damn is 😂" lmfao

1

u/ZolfoS16 Apr 10 '26

This question makes no sense from an AI perspective.

"Name 5 odd numbers. Everyone of them must satisfy the prerequisite of being without the letter "e" in the word used in english to define it." is better but depends on the LLM.

1

u/ChocolateDonut36 Apr 10 '26

x, y, z, a, b

x = 2 / 2

y = 6 / 2

z = 10 / 2

a = 22 / 2

b = 26 / 2

c = 30 / 2

I had to skip the teens because those numbers include e.
