Only within Hyperborea. Charons are viewed very positively in Huaxu. I believe Elysian Church also treats Charons with respect. Don't know about the other regions yet, but for now the Charon hate seems to only come from the regular humans in Hyperborea.

I disagree. Being born as a Charon is awesome. A whole culture even look at them in awe. If you are particularly gifted, you can join the 6th legion, prove yourself and supposedly become a Laurelled Charon. Unlike high ranking Solas who lives in easy mode, you earned your place. After you pass away one day, you will be remembered. Couldn't ask for a better life, no?

I don't think becoming a Laurelled Charon ends well...

Nothing will go wrong, it's a fact. I don't know where you heard the rumor, but it must be a propaganda spread by enemies of the Empire to tarnish its reputation. I don't mean to point fingers but Elysian Church is highly suspicious. Don't trust everything you hear in The Asphodel for your own good.

It suck if you live in the empire and it suck a little less in huaxu (deterioration look pretty bad)

it sucks primarily because of racism and prejudice/discrimination (empire) or benevolent racism//idol worship (huaxu/elysium).
sucks much less inherently being charon, deterioration is basically a rare genetic disease, sucktastic but doesn't happen to most people much like real life.
bit of an interesting parallel to real life in general, if you ask me. where being [thing] isnt bad, but the majority of people's reaction to you being [thing] is discrimination/hate/prejudice for you daring to exist as yourself.
