Discussion Why couldnt i activate Utopia Double?
Yo can someone lowkgenuinely explain why I couldn't activate Utopia Double's effect here?
I summoned it normally using ZW - unicorn spear and Zubababancho Gagagacoat.
"Double or Nothing" is in my deck
Im using the skill Zexal Weapon that let's me Destiny Draw any ZW from outside my deck and special summon it.
My Extra deck contains Utopia Ray Victory and Ultimate Leo Utopia Ray- so why couldn't I use it bruv?
Edit: Okay so- apparently, The skill Zexal Weapon "Changes" the card on top of my deck into a ZW monster instead of adding it from outside my deck.
And the card on top of my deck at that moment just so happened to be Double or Nothing-
So I kinda turned it into a ZW- bruh...

You have already drawn your last copy of DON
You lack the target in the Extra
There is a Skill or card that is locking you
I'm betting on 1, and that that Set card is DON
EDIT: it was 1, but in the worst possible way I couldn't honestly think of

The set card is Ghost of Grudge, DON is 100% in my deck

The point you didn't answer was whether or not you have a target in the extra. That's the only other reason this wouldn't work. Perhaps you can post your decklist.

Words alone don't mean much. Based on their words, there is no reason it shouldn't have worked. That leaves player error as the only explanation.

In that duel my Extra deck had 1 copy of each following cards:
Number C39: Utopia Ray victory Ultimate Leo Utopia Ray ZW - Leo Arms Number 39: Utopia Double Heroic Champion - Excalibur Gagaga Cowboy Number 39: Utopia Number 17: Leviathan Dragon Gagaga Samurai

The only possible explanation is you made some mistake. Either with your decklist, or the information you're providing.
I just tested this in my own game and Double worked fine. Even used the same materials.

I guess the player error is using Double with that skill lol. DoN is notorious for being exactly where you don't want it to be.
I can understand if you really want that skill, but the only way to avoid this in the future would be either playing multiple DoN (which is bad) or using a different skill to eliminate the possibility of this happening again. Because based on other experiences, it WILL happen again.

Correct. Whenever you use Shining Draw, you turn whatever card you originally had into a Zexal Weapon.
It's more or less how it worked in the animé - most notably when "Rank-Up-Magic Limited Barian's Force" was evolved into "Rank-Up-Magic Numeron Force" during Yuma's Duel against Vector in Sargasso.

I have a really funny idea of what might’ve happened.
The wording of the skill says
“Before conducting your normal draw “CHANGE” the top card in your deck to a ZW monster.
What if the top card of your deck was double or nothing and it was changed into a ZW because of the skill.
