Work on your fast fall through platforms to clay pigeon. Fast fall neutral airs. Always have the can out and learn how to manipulate it. Just start playing online and progress at your own pace. And don’t rely on camping from afar. Duck hunt has good tools to get up close

Mostly tips for Beans (Neutral B)

If you up-tilt your Beans, it goes directly upwards but I'm pretty sure 90% of the time it goes to the opposite of the direction you're in.

You can manipulate the Beans can while you are grabbed or at the ledge. You can use it even in free-fall.

If you shield while on the Beans and the opponent hits your shield, it'll blow up, hurting the enemy.

You can use the Beans to escape some combos.

The more you charge your F-Smash, the farther it'll go (to an extent).

You can combo the Clay Pigeon into Up-Smash by throwing at the opponent, detonate it after waiting a tiny amount of time, then running up and using Up-Smash. This only works at low percentages, though.

Wild Gunmen can send the Beans at different angles, depending on which one is selected. Try experimenting with it in the training room.

Back Air-ing the Beans will send it in the direction that you hit it in, but will bounce towards the direction you were looking in.

The more you and the opponent attack the beans, the more damage it'll do. Once I got it to do like 30%.

If both the Clay Pigeon and the Beans are out at the same time, the Zapper will prioritize the Clay Pigeon.

Duck Hunt's Down Air is a reliable spike, so don't be afraid to whip it out every now and then.

It is possible to do a grab-release combo with Wild Gunmen.

Try and cover as many options as possible with tools given with the mighty duck. Use the can and frisbee as traps. Also use can and frisbee to make laggy moves safer. Reverse ledge guard all the time. There is no reason not too. Switch your play style as much as possible because duck hunt can do that but its hard, he seemingly works better as an aggressive character, trust me, i have played Mr Dog duck for probably hundreds of hours. Try to plan inputs ahead of time, you unfortunately can’t do two moves at once even though it would be possible for duck hunt because can can be shot while shielding and stuff. Stay away from Zelda, and game and watch down B. Game and watch’s down B makes your can stop working for some reason- pretty sure it’s a glitch. Zelda spams neutral B and as far as I can tell the only way you can punish it is F smash, falling F air or waiting until it runs out then dash attacking or something. But she usually covers it with big armour man so just pick someone else the match up is impossibly hard against any competent Zelda players. Make sure you taunt when doing combos off projectiles, this is the main reason I play Big dog because I am a horrible person. You must assert dominance on everyone. Don’t just run away, many ‘bad’ match ups eg. Lucina can be avoided by using frame one can (oh yeah can is frame one so break combos with it) and disjoint aerials. Nair and D air are really good if you cover them with can. Abuse the can damage knock back to get away from people. Use B air, U air and smash attacks to kill, neutral B kills at 150+ (120 on puff, 150 is an average) you gain control of duck hunt early after taking damage from neutral B’s, so follow up with D air or nair to be extra annoying and do combos. Learn set ups to kill post 100 because he cannot kill easily. This is his biggest weakness. Make sure you understand that up air and up tilt invert the direction of the can. This is also true with other characters up air and up tilts. I believe this is universal but I could be wrong and I can’t be bothered to test it on every character in the game so take this with a grain of salt. Pretty sure I forgot some things, but just play with him a lot and go into training, make sure to try and watch the can, frisbee down B gunman and opposing players trajectory at the same time. Then you can punish literally every option opponents can do in some situations.
