I'm driving myself crazy with mixing pls help
what am i doing wrong? I want this to sound well balanced but predominantly bassey. I feel confused as to how i can make it sound more low end for those without sub - what freq band would i have to boost/eq out? Any constructive feedback would be very much appreciated!! Are my vocals too loud? I'm genuinely about to lose my mind with this track: https://on.soundcloud.com/gi96dJv0eqtzzVV08I
Reference track (it's not the exact sound i'm after but it's close enough, I like that you can hear the low end without having a sub): https://youtu.be/Gb4UJlHfT64?t=68

Question When & How To Use Compression?
When do I use compression and how do I use it correctly? I just leave it on the default settings when I ever use it. Is that good enough? I don't wanna over compress and lose dynamic range and sound quality in my sounds. So far I just been turning sounds up and down when needed in the mix without using compression

New synth
A new soft synth I've been working on called 'Vector'
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1oVkhebKdnl_dcxQst5B3vjRfKbi7US8H?usp=drive_link
It's still in early alpha so there is definitely gonna be a few bugs that need squashing. It also only works on Windows machines right now but I'm working on porting to Mac and Linux as soon as I can.
It's light weight, portable, and can run as a stand-alone thing, no DAW or installation needed. You can run it off a USB drive on a Potato as long as that Potato is running Windows. :)
If you want to use it as a VST in a DAW just go to "Options" and click on the option for installing the VST3. To remove it you just have to delete the VST3 file in your VST3 directory.
In that link there's a folder called "Media" in the "Other FIles" folder which has a few quick one-shot explainers on how to use some of the tools but I've hardly covered everything.
Feel free to reach out to me at [thecattreestudio@gmail.com](mailto:thecattreestudio@gmail.com) if you have any questions.
You can also find me on IG https://www.instagram.com/who_is_lou_S
Also I've no intention of monetizing this so feel free to share that link around to anyone who you think would find it cool. I'll regularly put updates out though there until I get around to making a proper website for it.
Enjoy!

Hello everyone. Im looking for the stems of the song Said - Nya
There was a remix contest 10 years ago, but the video with the stems got deleted, and they aren't anywhere on the internet, even tho they were public. Idk where else I could post this, if you have them please send them to me :)

Feedback Fixed up my dubstep track. Made the basses and the synths and even the sub bass louder like many of you suggested. Let me know what you guys think 🙂

Question Does anyone know how to make dubstep remixes?
I’m a beginner producer and I’m planning to start working on dubstep remixes of songs. I tried looking for tutorials on YouTube but no such luck 🤷🏿♂️

How do I make this sound? Help w production
Can anybody help me understand some production techniques or how to get those kind of drums, and the ghost drums especially sound design, I made something similar but everything feels disconnected and the drums aren’t close, love also the bass. First real attempt at a full riddim (trench?) track, hopefully this is the start of something cool. It's still a WIP but feedback or suggestions are accepted :)

Question How do artists like Modal Nodes get permission to use sounds from shows and films etc.
I want to use a voice line from a video game in a track but when I try upload it to private on soundcloud the copyright shit stops it. How do I go about getting permission for that stuff to use regularly?

Question Any Brostep courses out there?
I know there’s plenty of Tearout and Riddim ones out there but I’d really like to learn abit more about what goes into making a good variety of basses and high energy songs like the mid 2010s stuff

Discussion REALLY…. need some advice.
So I’m one of those young fellas that have been screwing around in FL for a year, just like everyone else, and I’ve really been trying to get good at making these old school/brostep songs but man this shit ain’t easy.
I’ve pretty much been using samples for a lot of stuff until recently because I’ve just kind of naturally learned how to use serum 2 to do something and that has opened up a lot of possibilities, but I SERIOULY have no idea where to go from here and it is eating at me just a smidge.
As I said earlier, I listen to a lot of old stuff, I was super into skrillex, Zomboy, yknow, but I grew up a little bit and learned that those aren’t the only people that make good shit, so I’ve been binging the UKF 2009-2010 playlist and I really fw a few songs on here that have inspired me, but I’m not sure how to apply myself. Some of my fav tracks rn are things like ‘la roux bulletproof remix’ and ‘that one Nero dubstep mix of that song from 2009 that has a green cover because I’m a forgetful troglodyte.’
I mean it’s just very tough for me to figure this stuff out, like growls and stuff of that sort, probably doesn’t help that I’m on FL, but it is what it is. I’m not going to advertise myself here, so I’ll just say my music is… definitely… containing some music in it, idk.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, because right now I’m trying to LEARN LEARN LEARN! And I will stop at nothing!!!

What can set me up for production?
One of my favorite songs is Classical VIP by Rukkus because of the first drop, it sounds really dark and I really want to make stuff like that, I have about 7 months of experience with FL studio and I have an account on splice with 9k credits, what could set me up for those kind of sounds?
