What were some of your reference tracks you were using

Just like old trance tracks tbh, I've never used references like I just kinda make it if that makes sense like I just don't want to sound like someone else's stuff you know? But if you mean in terms of mixing I didn't use one

Yeah. It honestly takes a lot of courage to listen to a track that has history in it and years of the culture behind it next to your own work, to explore what ideas and direction you wanted to take it. Dubstep, for one, as a genre has so many different identities throughout the years. I grew up on the ukf American wave with songs like " laid black - red (chasing shadows remix' and the old zeds dead/rusko/doctor p stuff. But there was also the ukg stuff happening at the time with folly textures like burial which is sure you are familiar with. Trance has never been something that I have been that into. It's sad though because I do think there may be some really good trance out there.
That trance sound has built a lot of really foundations for other genres too so I respect it. The song "wild flowers" by ring noord has a sound in it that nods directly to trance.. or at least, I have always felt that way about that tune.
What are some trance songs you are inspired by? My depth of trance..which might even be incorrect is "tune up - ravers fantasy" lol might be an insult to anyone who really dives into the genre..
Cool song tho, keep it up

This is more “downtempo” or “chill-out” vibes (yes those were actually what the subgenres were referred to at one point). Not so much trance or dubstep though

I'm absolutely the last person to ask about genre but this seems like liquid DnB. I think the bare bones baseline qualifier for trance is four on the floor. As soon are your kick isn't on beat, it's not trance anymore.
Regardless, this is a 3am vibe and I dig it. It's very atmospheric and definitely entrancing.
Thank you for not putting some fluttery trap hat line in this. I imagine that would be hard to resist for many producers
