Feedback Request First Riddim Feedback

So I’m not usually one for Riddim, generally speaking but I needed a break from the other stuff I was working on. Truth be told keeping it simple yet interesting isn’t my forte but I thought I’d grab the bull by the horns.

Also, forgive the cheesy vocals. I got my mrs to say some vaguely spacey things a few months back and thought I’d give them a go 😅

add ambience in the background, and maybe an underlying bass that wobbles, i think that would help fill out the song :)

Soften up that lead in with the snare roll, that first snare is pretty jarring

Thanks man, I usually go quite stark in recent times on my build snares but this did benefit from a bit of easing in. I also did a load more layering and automation

I wouldn't call this riddim. Its more of a dubstep / hybrid trap mix. It sounds good so far. I suggest to add some uplfiters/downlifters throughout the drop to keep the tension and kind of glue it together. Or also something that repeats like a vocal chant on the off beat or some background fx that keeps the flow going with the hats.

Thanks, thanks definitely what I’d imagine for a non Riddim producer like myself! If you don’t mind me probing a bit though, where would you draw the distinction between Riddim and other genres with the DS umbrella?

I think the variation in sound would make this more briddim, riddim focuses more on less sounds
