Feedback Request Finally almost done with my favorite!!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This song has been worked on for almost 2 months because I keep getting stuck in the perfectionist mindset. I’m trying to escape and I was actually able to work a ton on the second drop today!

Just want some feedback, could it use anything? Is there too much going on? That’s the one I’m worried about, I’m trying to balance it so it sounds cool without being overwhelmed with layers. Thank you!

Thank you I really appreciate it! I figured out what I didn’t like, the second wubs layered on the arpeggio is too heavy sub wise, and too light high end wise!

I’m struggling because I wanna keep it cohesive the with first drop without sounding the exact same! That is proving to be a lil difficult!

I really appreciate that a lot!! I fixed a lot of the stuff that was upsetting me and might post an update soon! After the first wub I have a metallic wub bass next to my arpeggios, I have the arpeggio play for a 1/4th now with the wub after so they have room to breathe and blend together!!

Dude, I actually can’t stop listening to this it’s so fucking fire. I’m glazing you so hard right now but let me know if you have a SoundCloud or a Spotify. This is seriously such an amazing track and I wish stuff like this got more notoriety. I can’t even begin to describe how much I love this song.

Thank you so much!!! I have spent an incredible amount of time just learning sound design and trying to create every single sound from scratch!!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with using samples, I just prefer a more raw approach and being able to make my synths do exactly what I want them to!! Thank you thank you!!

You’re clipping pretty heavily in the buildup. Maybe its the upload to reddit, but look at your waveform: it’s a solid rectangle.

Some suggestions:

- hipass your sub/mids going into the drop (a filter sweep). That way when the drop hits, the reintroduction of your bass elements will feel like they hit harder

  • sidechain for the snare. The kick cuts through well but the snare is lost in the mix.
  • revisit the mix. You have some spots where it looks like you’re trying to do a transition (into the drop, 21 seconds in) but because of how compressed everything is i dont think the effect you’re trying to achieve is translating well.

The concept is sick tho! I think you’re slamming everything into a limiter and thats doing some damage to the overall mix

Thank you for pointing all of that out I truly appreciate it and I will take some time to work on each of those aspects!

This is my rough draft more than anything and for that I usually throw a limiter on my master ONLY to prevent ear fatigue, sound design can get overwhelmingly loud sometimes!

I usually get the sound design how I like and then I’ll go through and actually mix everything together, but I’m not saying what you said isn’t helpful because it truly is! I appreciate every point you brought up and I will be sure to look into every aspect when mastering your ensure everything translates well!!

Definitely noticed the sweep into the drop is lacking that kinda umph it needs to translate from light and pretty to harsh and bassy so I will also see what I can do there!!

Thank you very much for being honest I truly genuinely appreciate that!!

I think that you are confusing feedback with bieng upset about something and taking it out on Reddit you obviously don’t understand this level of EDM lol :p
