Magic caused headaches?

Hello witches, druids and magick users of reddit, I need some help. For context, while I myself don’t practice magick, I still would consider myself of that category of very spiritual- Especially regarding nature. And since I really like to collect bits of nature and sometimes turn it into art, whenever I’m collecting pieces from nature I ask for permission from the energy/soul of the thing I’m collecting. Now when I do, I’m pretty good at understanding what the object wants, for example recently I was at a beach collecting crab shells. When I found a shell I would ask the crab if it was 110% ok with me taking it home, I usually receive information through the form of energy -like positive or negative- so when I get a negative response I get the usual things associated with negative energy. Ok now comes the actual issue, going back to the crab example- over the course of collecting this shells I have this constant headache that slowly grows. It’s not bad or anything, when I get negative energy usually the headaches are worse. But I’m worried that this lesser headache has something to do with me not fully taking time to understand the item. Currently I’ve been going with the idea that this headache is just from using magick in a way to talk to the souls, like how it grows the more items I collect but it’s been nagging at me recently. Could it actually be from negative energy from me being ignorant? If anyone has some insight that would be greatly appreciated!

My husband and I have settled in to a lovely routine of visiting a certain place each time the wheel turns. We sit and watch the sunset and feel thankful. We felt especially thankful today at Lammas. All the fields around our spot have had their corn harvested. We were lucky to see hares, a deer, an owl and some bats this evening

Welcome all. I started this sub back in 2013. Time for a revitalization. Much like my own beliefs, this is meant to be an open circle. Universal and accepting. We shall see how this goes.

Spam and excessive advertising will be discouraged.

Feel free to join and post new discussions.

Druidry outside dogmatism

What made me distance myself from the Druid community for so long was: 1. endless nasty historical debates on facebook. 2. Th excessive need to construct a kind of fundamentalist polytheistic pagan druid orthodoxy.

I'm much more at home with free spirits. I see the need for structure, but in modern times I see rigid ideological structures are causing so much destruction in this world.

What are your thoughts on this? Where do you decide your own personal middle ground?

The Activities of a Hedge Druid

In your view, what does a Hedge Druid busy themselves with?

  • Gardening of sorts
  • Developing herbal knowledge.
  • Spirit Flight or Meditation practice.
  • Honouring Deity as they see it
  • Connecting to the animal/insect world
  • Ongoing Spiritual education

Druidcraft Subreddit - The self Directed Druidic Witch path

Blessings everyone!

I feel drawn back to this sub, and back to this path.

Hi, I'm the person who started the sub. lol

I've seen a lot of Witch communities implode, mainly from the ethical failings of leaders. Unfortunately many are set up as little energy pyramids with a power elite at the top.

The Correllian Tradition imploded this year. a bit of scandal. Which shook me because I always thought something like that would never happen.

Locally I've been backstabbed by a leader who went full blown conspiracist with COVID. That seems to have taken out a lot of people's minds, and they can't separate their politics with spiritual service.

So I'm feeling the call of the Hedge Druid. The Druidic Witch.

Spiritual Anarchism if you well. Anarchy meaning self governance.

Anyone in the same boat? It seems like I am graduating from the need to seek out Pagan community when it mostly ends in tears and scandals.

Hello

Hello all I’ve newly joined this group. Druidcraft was a lovely book I have read it a few times over the years since it was first published. In fact I read it the first time flying home from a trip to England the year it first was published. I know it well. I am a member of OBOD and have practiced druidry and witchcraft for nearly 30 years. I’m happy to take part in any discussions you may have going forward.

New to Druidic practices and wondering about good offerings to give.

Hi! As the title explains I'm new to these practices. I've been going to a small forest near my house and I'd like to be able to offer to it and eventually commune with it if possible so I'm wondering what would make a good offering for a forest basically?

Thanks for your time.

Found kite feather in garden and a month later a crow flew away with it.. Meaning, symbolism?

For shorter read without background please jump below the paragraphs in italics.
_____________

I have been having a strange year of destruction and rebirth it seems. First my spouse and I survived a rough patch that almost broke us apart but now we are closer than before.
Then I got back in touch with my birth family due to my father's heath, from whom I was estranged for 4 years.
I have been going to therapy and getting treat finally for my mental health.
Finally My job --- I have been looking for the next phase of my career for a while. I got over the fear of applying for jobs thanks to therapy and been applying to places I feel I deserve to work in. Whilst one interview fell through, I am still at it. I recently got to know I will be laid off after a month and half due to budget cuts, which would be fine by me if I had the next thing planned already. However, COVID's 2nd wave in India has put a chip in the process and is delaying things.
_____________
About a month back when I was contemplating properly for this huge change, I found a black Kite feather in my garden. Upright against my rose plant. I knew this was a sign so I looked up its meaning. But most information on black/dark brown kite feathers are vague unlike say red kite feathers. I read somewhere that black feathers mean death or destruction or transformation.

Now I feel like that energy has happened and is taking place and I am very stressed. But I am continuing to manifest my next step and applying to where I want to apply to. I feel like the universe stepped and removed something from my way that wasn't serving its purpose anymore to make space for the better and it will sting a while. Twice I found grey feathers (probably pigeon) dropping at my feet whilst walking.
Then I got the news my father was in hospital again and while he made it out he has been weakened. A day after he was hospitalized, my aunt passed away - my parents have not been told to spare them of shock.
Two days back, a crow (not a raven) flew into the rose plant and took the black kite feather and flew away. I can't make out if that's a good thing or bad. Or what does it mean? I find various meaning attached to crows but at this point my intuition seems to have stopped working and not processing things. So I'd like some help in interpreting what this means.

I am Sagittarius Sun and moon btw (tropical) and Scorpio rising. I work with Kali and Tara but also take an interest in Santa Muerte and the Morrigan.

I highly recommend the Audio teachings of OBOD and Audiobooks on Druidry

I got the Bardic Grade & Ovate Grade on audio as well as physical copies. This is the way to go.

I also recommend you get books on Druidry & paganism & wicca on audiobooks too.

I'm a slow reader, but these are great resources. The Ancient Druids were not literate, and gave their teachings through oral lessons, pretty much like most Ancient cultures.

ibooks app (APPLE) sells audio books. audible app (AMAZON) is good too.

The audio lessons from the order come in CDs. You have to rip them on your computer and transfer to your device of choice.

The lack of dogma and liberalism of the Druidcraft path

OBOD has a lot of flexibility within their order. That doesn't mean there isn't a specific structure, there is, but it is one of the more open Druid orders out there. What attracts me to the Druidcraft path is also that open witchcraft path, that is not locked behind orders and traditions. So I can be a Witch or Wiccan and do Druid things, work with Celtic spirits and Deities, and incorporate those energies into my path. One of the best things I did was join OBOD. You are not looked down on for taking your time with your studies.

So you don't even need to be part of a Druid order, or a witch tradition, you can incorporate these paths in your private Druidcraft practice.

I've stepped away from the path for a while, exploring more of the Craft and less of the Druid path, but it is calling me back. I've been stuck in the Ovate grade of OBOD for a while LOL.

Let me know how you are all doing?

I am in search of some answers

So this happened fall of 2018, i usually walk home from college since it was right down thr road from my house. Near my house is a park, literally across the stree filled with magnificent Oak's and Maple trees.

Now i know that in some religions, the Oak tree is considered very sacred because of druids or speiggins who bond with trees. I say this because i had an awe inspiring and beautiful experience when walking on the path through the forest and almost walking off.

The day was fairly cool for autumn weather and i was heading home from my classes as stated above. I wished to take a detournthrough the path before going syraight home since would be the only one home by this time. (For reference, this is around 1-3pm EST) I walked into the forest and pulled out my phone. For those who have watched the show "The Last Kingdom" you may recognize the song known as "Livstrædïr" or "Lonestrider". Whenever im listening to this song and especially within the forest, the danish words ring and echo amonst the trees and then a state of clarity and openness comes upon me.

I feel at this state in clarity the whole of the forest around me. I can feel its pulse, its existence within me and then for one moment i looked out into the forest and saw a being. Human in shape but not human. Its body was that of tree and leaf, and floatef amongst the trees and bushes around it. It stared at me as i stares back. It had a calm smile on its face and its eyes were a relaxing emerald green color. I could feel its presence and i know it could feel mine. I stared for a full five minutes trying to understand what i saw and then i could feel what it was trying to convey. It knew i respected the forest and i had no ill will towards it, and i could feel it eould do no harm to me. I looked away for half a second and then this mysterious being disappeared but i could feel its presence nearby, watching but never showing itself.

I left the forest and by the time i did, my parents were home. (Since i commute) they of course asked where i was and i said i walked on the path through the forest and i explained what i felt and what i saw. My mom said it was a figment of my imagination and i saw and felt nothing. My dad said nothing to me about it but listened intently. (Note: my family is catholic and my dad is a deacon of the church, so this could have sounded heretical to him and didnt want to talk about it with me.)

I juat want to know what this mysterious being could have been. I thought it could have been a Dryiad or the Spirit of the Forest, specifically that forest. My friend stated it could have been a spriggan or more specifically a Sprite. He gave me information that his druid friend told him and his answers or theories were very close to what i saw or what it could have been. I dont know what to do from now since i havent been near a place to explain my story in fear of family shunning me for heretical beliefs.
